10 Reasons Why Having A Little Brother Is The Best

You always hear about that overprotective big brother figure in the lives of young ladies, but what about the greatest little accident that came into your life unexpectedly when you were so close to being an only child? Your little brother can be the weirdest, stickiest, little human being, but when you break it down, he really is the greatest. Here’s why:

1. He’s honest

No one is more honest than an innocent little kid who loves you more than anything. He always has your best interest at heart and has no problem telling you how it is.

2. He is a good judge of character

Who else is better at picking out if that girl is your real friend or if that boy you’ve been talking to is really as great as you think?! He has no problem analyzing the people in your life and telling you how it is.

3. He protects you

When you ignore all of his judgement on your “BFF” who ended up backstabbing you and that perfect, beautiful boy with that cute smile who tore your heart to shreds, he’s the first one by your side. He may be little, but no one messes with his big sister.

4. He learns from your mistakes and past relationships

He may be young and you might think he has no idea what’s going on, but he really is silently taking notes of what your girlfriends think is funny or cute and what that boy who hurt you did so wrong. He knows how to talk to girls and he’s learning from you and your past on how women should really be treated.

5. He deals with your mom while you’re at school

No one knows better than you and him how crazy your mom actually is and while you’re at school, he’s the one dealing with her mood swings and crazy antics.

6. He then calls you just to bag on your mom

When he’s had enough of her demands and rules, he calls you. After all you are the big sister and, in his mind, you are next in line to having almost the same power as a parent and can talk some sense into your mom and tell her to go easier on him. Also, you know that phone call is going to consist of you two telling “crazy mom” stories to each other to reiterate how crazy the crazy can get and to get a good laugh on mom’s behalf.

7. He doesn’t steal your clothes

When my mom was pregnant, all I wanted was a baby sister. I bought dresses and everything. You can only imagine how much I balled my eyes out when I found out my dreams of a little sister were being crushed by a baby boy in my mom’s tummy. Now, though, I am grateful. He doesn’t steal my clothes or makeup. Sure, we fight, but we do our own separate things and that’s the way we like it.

8. He’s your biggest fan

He’s there at all your sporting events cheering you on, even if you are just the cheerleader cheering on the team. He is there when you get your license and can’t wait until he’s as old and as cool as you. He admires you and is your biggest advocate whether he shows it or not.

9. He loves you unconditionally

He is one of the few males in your life who loves you through the good bad and the ugly. When you feel like nothing is going right and everything you do is wrong, your little brother knows how not true that is. He could watch you mess up a million times and to him you’re still perfect.

10. Most importantly, he’s your best friend

He’s there through it all no matter what and that’s exactly where he’ll stay. He may annoy you and get on your nerves beyond belief, but let’s face it, he learned his humor and attitude all from you…how could he not be your best friend?!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
