After five long months of anticipation, it is finally time to "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," because baseball is back. Opening night is April 5 and opening day is April 6. While you may think that baseball is boring, there is much more to the game. Here are some of the many reasons why baseball season is superior and other reasons why you should find yourself at a ballpark this year.
1. The mascots are hilarious.
Mascots are interactive and pretty famous amongst the baseball community. The Phillie Phanatic is one of the most well-known mascots due to his crazy dance moves.
2. The seventh inning stretch.
What other sport gives you the opportunity during the game to stand up, sing and dance? It's okay to get up and sing "Take me out to the ballgame," at the top of your lungs. It is also okay to show off your dance moves.
3. The bench-clearing brawls.
Baseball players have anger, too, and sometimes things get heated. It is always scary when a pitcher hits a batter, but it gets interesting when punches are thrown and words are exchanged.
4. Ballpark food is unreal.
Although you may leave with an extra few pounds, the food that you will encounter at games is on a new level. The Arizona Diamondbacks will introduce the churro dog, this season, which includes a churro in a chocolate glazed donut bun. Just in case this isn't enough sugar, it is topped with frozen yogurt, whipped cream and caramel and chocolate sauces.
5. There are plenty of things to do while at a game.
Arizona has a swimming pool, San Francisco has a Coca-Cola slide and Detroit has a ferris wheel and a merry-go-round. If you aren't much of a baseball fan, you can still have fun while at a game.
6. Home runs.
Batters are swinging bats at balls coming towards them at speeds that reach 100 miles per hour. The fact that someone can even hit something so fast is impressive. When a batter hits a home run out of the park, the crowd goes wild.
7. Postseason baseball is so unpredictable.
Many teams play each other often during the regular season, but all is forgotten during the playoffs. Heroes are made and dreams are crushed.
8. The plays are incredible.
Players can make plays that seem impossible. They can jump, dive and slide to catch the ball, just in order to make a top play. They have the ability to fly through the air, which isn't normal.
9. Players have fun.
While they take the game seriously, there are times where players cannot help but have fun. Whether its in the dugout or on the field, players let their personality show.
10. The players are good looking.
Baseball has been known to have hot players. While their hats and helmets may sometimes hide their faces, their baseball pants do not keep anything from the imagination. I mean, have you seen Buster Posey?
