Realistic Weddings

Letting go of someone who was once so close is always a difficult choice to make. There comes a time in life when you face a fork in the road and you have to choose what path to stay on. You either choose to stay or part ways, and that choice can change your future outcome in many ways.

When you first meet this someone, it's a beautiful beginning, full of smiles and laughter, but as time goes on and you become more comfortable around them, you start to see them for who they are. You start to realize that the relationship no longer brings any value or purpose to your life, but only harm and negativity.

At this point in the friendship/relationship, there's now too much pressure and expectations in the air to try to recreate what was once there. You can cherish the memories created, but it is time to move forward and let go. Be thankful for what the friendship or relationship taught you and how that helped shape you into who you are, but realize why it's time to let go. Here are 10 reasons why you should stop holding on and let go.

Time can't heal all wounds

Sometimes we hold on to people based on the length of time we have known them for. You share so many life changing moments together, and you both have grown into the people you are today together. Time draws people closer, but if you no longer feel connected, time isn't a strong enough reason to grab onto something that isn't holding you back.

The smiles are only found in photos

In life, we are always taking photos to create memories to look back on. However, sometimes, things are better left as memories. You can try to fix the relationship and try to bring things back to how they once were, but you both have grown into different people. You'll never be truly happy because it will never be like it once was, and that's OK. Change doesn't ever have to be a bad thing.

Things are not the same anymore

Before, you both could talk for hours on end about life, your dreams, your goals for the future, and everything in between. Now, there is an anxious vibe between you both not knowing how to act or what to talk about. Almost as if you are forcing a relationship to happen, trying to go through the motions again, but that only causes pressure on the both of you. Maybe in the future your paths will cross again, but right now you need to let them go.

The circle of trust has been broken

If you know deep down in your heart that he or she cannot be trusted and cannot be loyal to you, then you need to ask yourself why do you continue to keep him or her in your life. Trust, loyalty, honesty, and integrity are essential for any friendship or relationship, if that is lacking, then it's not worth the pain and frustration that you will ultimately end up feeling.

You're unsure where things stand

Remaining engaged in an undefined friendship or relationship makes things confusing for both sides. You don't know if you mean anything to him or her. If a person isn't making you feel significant in their life, reflect on why you are continuing to make them a priority in yours. You should be in the company of someone who is proud to call you a friend and makes that known to you. Your friends and relationships shouldn't gamble with your thoughts and heart just because they know you will be around.

It's damaging to you and your life

If the friendship or relationship is making you feel insecure and miserable, it's time to bid the persona polite farewell. You shouldn't allow yourself to feel trapped and become used to being treated any other way than what you deserve. Respect yourself enough to be able to walk away.

Compromise is no longer an option

It is difficult to make any type of relationship when you can't see eye to eye or see each other's points of view. When the only thing you can agree on is disagreeing to agree, it might be time to walk away. In many friendships and relationships, people are drawn together through their differences, after all, opposites attract. However, if you find a significant amount of tensions and differences between you both, then let go.

You're the only one fighting for it

If your friendship or relationship is only one-sided, and that one side is you, maybe you should reflect on if it is worth it. If you're the only one putting in effort, time and love, how is it considered a friendship/relationship. Find someone who will make you feel worthy and worthwhile to them. Someone who fights to have you in their life. Someone who acknowledges everything you do and have done, and never settle for anything less.

They don't believe in you

If you find that the friendship or relationship isn't supporting who you are, reflect on what they are providing for you. You deserve someone who will walk with you on your journey of life and give you bundles of encouragement and believe in you when you might not even believe in yourself.

It's not what you need anymore

Ask yourself if you can do without the friendship/relationship or whether it's something you undeniably want and deserve. Why should you ever have to settle for anything less than pure happiness?

All in all, don't ever allow someone to make you feel like you are worthless or needy for wanting to be in company with someone who will love, support, and care for you, someone who will be there when your favorite character gets killed off a TV show, someone who will go on spontaneous road trips, someone who will listen and give you insightful advice, someone who believes in you so strongly and always pushes you to go the extra mile. Someone who makes you feel like you're someone.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
