It's finally September. Insert squealing girl scream here. All across the South, happy girl squeals can be heard and ankle boots are being brought forth from their summer hiding places. Pillsbury pumpkin cookies are appearing in Walmart, and Starbucks will soon release their coveted fall drink list (though I don't drink coffee, I know and see the rage it brings forth in the long lines). Girls across college campuses are eager to replace their summer tank tops with comfy sweaters and True Grit pullovers. Fall. Is. Coming. There's only one disappointment about the coming of September; the weather doesn't quite switch from 95 degree heat to a 50 degree chill as quickly as we'd all hope. Regardless, the month of September reminds us all of what is coming and what we have to look forward to while we sweat out the last few weeks of summer. Besides the traditional fall decor being showcased on HGTV and in the Magnolia Market, here's what every "basic" fall-loving girl (myself at the top of the list) can look forward to!

1. Pumpkin everything

Pumpkin spices, muffins, cookies, breads, pies, coffees and lattes. Pumpkin patch walking and pumpkin carving contests - pumpkin everything is about to explode.

2. Earth toned nail polish

Good-bye neons, pastels and summer blues! Hello olive and wine colored lacquers!

3. Less shaving

Ladies, 'nuff said.

4. Chunky-knit sweaters

Perfect for hiding that coming, post-Thanksgiving feast. Also perfect for looking fabulous without putting forth effort. Win-win.

5. Fleece-lined leggings

For when jeans are too stiff and the weeks are too long.

6. Ankle boots galore.

I think I own 6 pair now. I should be ashamed. Should.

7. College football and tailgating

The holy grail of Saturdays -- tailgating. And no one does tailgating like Ole Miss in the Grove. Even if you're not able to attend a pre-game tailgating party, you can host a home party of your own thanks to tasty Pinterest recipes and a quick group invite via iMessaging. Hotty Toddy.

8. Walking outside and not sweating immediately.

Bless you, Jack Frost.

9. Hot chocolate.

Over the past few years, simple child-hood hot chocolate has been given a food-makeover. Now there's Mayan hot chocolate, cinnamon hot chocolate, graham cracker hot chocolate...you get it. Whatever way you like it, mixing it up and sipping it from your favorite mug will send a warmth down your spine - and possibly inspire early Christmas shopping!

10. Zero humidity.

Curly haired girls, rejoice. The frizz on our heads will finally relax and your amazing liquid lipstick will finally stay in place rather than making you look a bit like Harley Quinn.

11. No bugs!

Ah, without the humidity and stuffy heat the bugs retreat and you can stuff your hands in your gloves rather than swatting the bug-infested air of summer.

Now, don't go rushing to your local coffee shop for that pumpkin spice latte in your favorite boots and sweatshirt just yet! It's still warm and the sun isn't setting before 5 right now. But it will be soon. If you want to cry every time you walk outside because the heat is just too much for you to keep on going, review this list and remind yourself fall is coming. It's nearly here. To all the coming late night hayrides, corn mazes, cozy bonfires and beautiful fall foliage - hurry up.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
