Don't get me wrong, when summer arrives, I am ready to bask in the sun like it was what I was put on this Earth to do.. But there is no denying that I am and always will be a fall kind of girl. Bonfires are happening and the weather makes it a little easier for me to convince my lover that we should cuddle. So, here are a few of the reason why I love fall:
1. The Weather
You've got to understand that I am from Alabama. It's so miserably humid here right now that you can feel it filling your lungs when you breathe. So there's no feeling like that first chill in the morning when you wake up and realize that you will need a light jacket. It's never too hot or too cold. Fall days are sunny with light breeze through the air. The perfect setting for me to enjoy lounging on my front porch swing and admire my surroundings.
2. The Clothes
I love to layer, but I also love the fact that everything on your body can be covered. In the summer time, we are all just trying to remain cool that we aren't too worried about looking our best. My fall wardrobe is 100 times more stylish than my summer wardrobe. AND BOOTS. Need I say more? I love the fact that one shoe can go with almost EVERYTHING! AH!
Once again, I'm from God's country. ROLL TIDE explains it all. 16 National Championships later and we're still rolling. Plus, you know you love Saban! There is just something about riding down the road and seeing those football field lights on that makes our southern hearts pitter patter a bit. Also, attending college football games can give you a high of its own kind.
4. Pumpkin Spiced Everything
A girl's dream. Not only do I adore a good pumpkin spiced latte, I LOVE pumpkin pie and pumpkin seeds! The true taste of an autumn day right there.
5. The Scenery
I can picture it now: Riding down the road enjoying some music with a southern sunset hanging like the Maker Himself painted it up there just for you. Then you step out of your car to hear a slight crunch of beautifully colored leaves lingering around. I walk in to grab some coffee and head to the porch to sit and take it all in. I. CAN'T. WAIT.
6. The Colors
The colors of the fall are a divine creation of there own. Red, Orange, Yellow, and warm browns. Whether it's what you're seeing, wearing on your eyes, or what you're stepping on, there's no denying these colors warm our hearts.
8. Halloween
I have a kid now and I will tell you, it's just different. Last year, I don't feel that we really got to experience him dressing up like we will this year and I cannot be more excited. But I also remember when I was a college student picking out a costume readying myself for the fraternity parties I would attend. It's nice not to be you for a night, huh?
9. Preparing For Hunting Season
I never in a million years thought this would be an excitement to me! My almost husband (5 weeks!) is an AVID duck hunter and I have DESPISED duck season as long as we have been together.. But this year, I have convinced myself it WILL be different! I am going to enjoy the weekends when I, literally, couldn't pull him out of a blind if I tried! I know you wives/girlfriends know what I'm talking about.
10. My Realization Of God's Mastery
Every fall, I find myself in awe of what our Creator designed in 7 short days. It throws me for a loop every time. This time of year makes me stop and realize that if He created this as my temporary home, imagine what He has in store for us at our true home. I get tears in my eyes just thinking of it and find myself thanking God for the one of the many small joys of life that we get to experience while we are here: Fall!
"All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made." John 1:3
