10 Moments From The 2016 Election To Make You Laugh, Cry, Or Both
New York Times

Although the nightmare that was the approximate 600 days of election season was a mess of anger, stress, and utter nonsense, there were 10 moments I can think of that either made me laugh, cry or both. The 2016 election will definitely go down in history as one of the most contentious and nasty elections in modern times, and perhaps the most surprising in recent memory. Here's why.

10. Carly Fiorina dropped a bomb on Trump.

The woman who almost declared a nuclear war against Planned Parenthood had the best comeback to Donald Trump's comeback on his statement that she didn't have the "presidential look".

9. Jeb Bush actually begged a "crowd" at his "rally" to clap. It was cringeworthy.

Jeb Bush, the victim to Donald Trump's endless tirade of bullying couldn't even excite his own group of supporters and had to ask them to clap. Cringe.

8. Bernie got a bird.

Senator Bernard "Bernie" Sanders was at a massive rally when a bird landed on his podium, which became a rallying cry for his supporters and possibly assured us that he is, in fact, the best human being alive, ever.

7. Marco Rubio talked about Donald Trump's junk and it got super weird.

There is literally, nothing in the universe that we wanted to hear about less than Donald Trump's genitals, and yet, the GOP hopeful Marco Rubio made a sliding reference to the Donald's junk, and it was just really awkward and weird.

6. Kate McKinnon was literally everything good about this election.

Kate McKinnon not only won an Emmy for her SNL portrayal of Hillary Clinton, but also kept most of us sane with her funny, poignant portrayal of the notorious HRC herself, and let's not forget that time Hillary actually showed up to help "Hillary" through her crisis.

5. When Hillary shimmied on national television everybody lost their shit.

I almost pooped my pants when the most powerful woman in politics shimmied at the chance to eviscerate her male opponent. Feminist, much? Yes, queen.

4. Michelle Obama's DNC speech gave us all the feels.

Michelle Obama was probably the best first lady since Eleanor Roosevelt and she gave us raw emotion at the DNC this year.

3. Hillary Clinton playing with balloons like a 5-year-old on her birthday.

All I need in life is someone who will look at me the same way Hillary Clinton looked at those balloons.

2. Beyoncé slayed for Hillary and, of course, we all died.

And let's be honest, we all logged onto Etsy to see where the hell we could get one of those Formation hats/I'm With Her t-shirts.

1. Ted Cruz nearly punched his wife in the mouth and then threw an elbow.

Ted Cruz has been the guy in class everyone throws stuff at when they're angry because the guy is honestly the anti-human being. He's been called "lucifer in the flesh" by John Boehner and rumored to be the zodiac killer. He's been denied affection from his own child and Carly Fiorina fell at his rally. So Ted Cruz doing this at his concession speech was the cherry on the cake.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
