Every Presidential election we are subjected to the same thing. Our country and the world is facing serious times, yet a significant number of presidential candidates are laughable at best. They parrot the opinions their pollsters tell them to in order to win the election. They have no political experience and they are driven by their own selfish ambition rather than a love for their country. Some of these candidates are worse than others, though. Here is my list of the top 10 worst candidates of 2016.
1. Donald Trump
Donald Trump is the kind of conservative who give Republicans a bad name. Trump has never held political office and has achieved his support purely through charged language, xenophobia and insults. His language is consistently inflammatory. The majority of this rhetoric expresses his anger and dissatisfaction with the direction the current and incredibly progressive president has taken the country. Trump portrays America as being a country whose core values have been stolen in recent years. However the core values he swears he is defending are anything but American. His strong belief that Muslims should not be permitted to enter the country or that immigrants who made lives for themselves should be ejected is clearly un-American. It is against everything America stands for. We are meant to be a land of freedom, and a haven for oppressed people everywhere. If Donald Trump were elected this would no longer be true.
2. Bernie Sanders
3. Ben Carson
For one of the most brilliant brain surgeons in the country. Ben Carson is not a political genius. In fact, brain surgery appears to be the only thing he knows about. Any man who does not know why the pyramids were built or thinks prisons turn people gay is probably not qualified to be president. Not to mention, he has no political experience. A candidate needs at least some level of experience to govern once they win. Ben Carson has never even been mayor of a small town. He is certainly not qualified to be president.
4. Ted Cruz
5. Jeb Bush
While the other candidates I have listed are mainly faulted for their opinions, this is not the case with Jeb Bush. Jeb's problem, simply put, is that he is boring. Even when being bullied on stage by Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, Jeb barely raises his voice above its usual level. His opinions are moderate and logical but people will fall asleep before he is done stating them.
