1. Opportunities are everywhere; you just have to look!

I joined a fraternity! Who would have thought? And it’s been amazing. I never thought I would join a Frat, but this has possibly been the best decision I’ve made so far in my college career! I’m so thankful for APO (Alpha Phi Omega) and all the rewarding experiences I’ve had so far!

2. Sleep is key.

I have never slept so much in life. My sleeping schedule freshmen year was perfect. I went to sleep at a normal time and got up at a normal time. This semester, I went to sleep at 4 a.m. and got up five minutes before class. Man, I have never taken so many naps in my life.

3. You win some and you lose some.

From freshmen year, up until sophomore year, you may find you are not as close as to some people as you once were…and it’s OK. But at the same time, I have also met so many amazing people this semester and with that have gained so many other wonderful friendships.

4. The inspiration is endless.

At my school, at least in my opinion, I see so many of my peers going out and doing such huge, incredible things. So much, that it inspires me to do the same! They help me see that anything I want, is attainable and that it is possible. Plus there are so many organizations and speakers on my campus, how could you possibly not be inspired?

5. Sometimes you change your mind and sometimes you change your major – and that’s OK.

I came into my university as an intended business major, and it took me two semesters to realize that that’s just not something I was passionate about; so I switched and I do not regret my decision. As humans, we are always changing and it’s not a bad thing, and it’s better to realize something like this sooner, rather than later.

6. Your friends are what keep you sane.

I’m so thankful for you guys. I know I don't say it a lot, but I love you!

7. Why am I still eating this dining hall food?

Self-explanatory. Thank Bob, I'm moving to an apartment and going to be able to cook my own food next semester.

8. College textbooks.

Seriously, we rarely ever crack them open, not to mention we barely ever want too. I’m not buying physical copies anymore!

9. Oh, you’re saving money this semester? That’s cute.

10. You are capable of anything you put your heart, mind and soul into.

As I’ve come to rightful age of 20, I’ve realized just how tough life can get. I tend to doubt myself a lot. But then when you take a step back, you realize that you are the only one holding yourself back. If you have a dream, a vision or a goal, then anything is possible if you believe it’s possible. Stop with the what if’s, could have’s and the I should have’s – if you want it, then go get it!

Good luck to all the upcoming sophomores! You got this!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
