As the fall season approaches, it has gotten me in quite the fall-food mood. There are so many treats that I usually don't eat until this time of year, because it simply feels unnatural to do so. I am so excited to share my favorite fall foods, as well as jog some inspiration to get you cookin'!
1. Hot Chocolate
For some reason, it always feels wrong for me to drink hot chocolate when its hot out. It either doesn't taste right or it doesn't register well with my body. Once it get's cold outside, I feel so much better about ordering a nice large cup of hot chocolate instead of the usual coffee or tea drinks for the day. It also serves as the best under-the-blanket snuggle drink.
2. Soup
Similarly, soup just always tastes better to me in the fall. Whether it's the colors, the vegetables, or the steaminess, soup is always a fall favorite. It's also very common to eat soup when you're sick, and when this time of year rolls around, nearly every college campus gets a week of (what seems like) the plague. Grab the tissues, warm up the soup, and with some Netflix, you will be okay.
3. Apple Pie
To be quite honest, I don't think i've ever even eaten apple pie any other season than fall. Though I know i'm fairly unusual, apple pie just pairs so nicely with the holiday of Thanksgiving.
4. Pumpkin Seeds
I. LOVE. PUMPKIN. SEEDS.
Carving the actual pumpkin is fun and all, but there is absolutely nothing that compares to the smell and taste of pumpkin seeds. Whether you like them all natural or loaded with salt, pumpkin seeds are the perfect fall treat.
5. Pumpkin Spice Latte
Though I am not personally a fan of pumpkin spice latte's, there is and probably always will be a hype when Starbuck's first releases this drink of the season. I hear this order at least 50 times when I sit in Starbuck's to do my homework. They are a hit!
6. Candy Corn
Can you say addicting? I have never been able to sit at a table and keep dishing so much of a certain food into my mouth before. Candy corn is so weirdly creamy and so sugary it satisfies every need. And, better yet, the shape and color of these candies just screams halloween. Definitely one of my personal favorites.
7. Apple Cider
What has always struck me about apple cider is that people often enjoy this drink hot, and never have I ever had such a desire. I love an ice cold glass of apple cider to refresh and rejuvenate. Though I don't personally like it hot, there are many people who do, and that especially feels right in the fall.
8. Donuts
If you haven't ever dipped a fresh baked original donut in apple cider, you are not living, my friend. At almost every pumpkin patch, there will be fresh donuts served with fresh cider, because they are just the all time fall duo. I honestly cannot even understand why, but they just belong together. Believe me.
9. Thanksgiving Food
This deserves it's own entire category, because there are too many great things about Thanksgiving dinner. From the fresh turkey to the stuffing, you will never ever walk away from the dinner table full or craving more. To be quite honest, thanksgiving day is probably the only time I eat half of the things served: yet I ALWAYS them.
10. Carrot Cake
Am I the only one who likes carrot cake? Or better yet, more specifically in the fall? For some reason, carrot cake takes so insanely good to me during the fall season. I see it, I crave it, and I eat so much more of it for no reason. It just fits.
Though there are so many other amazing foods connected to fall, I encourage you to try some of these things if you haven't and share with your favorite fall foods!
