Admit it. We've all practiced CoverGirl's iconic mantra: "Easy, Breezy, Beautiful....CoverGirl" in the mirror at least once after binge watching America's Next Top Model. The worldwide cosmetic company has recently announced the new face of its brand Zendaya, a 19-year-old from Oakland, California has been a star in two Disney Channel television shows, released a clothing line, hosted the Radio Disney awards show, and helped judge the Miss America pageant. The vivid and daring 19-year-old released on her Instagram the news that she is the brand new face of the iconic beauty brand. Zendaya had been in the acting game for a while, but truly established her presence as an activist for representation after the controversy with wearing dreadlocks to the Oscars red carpet event in 2015. Giuliana Rancic made comments of how Zendaya’s hairstyle of choice seemed to smell of “patchouli oil.” Zendaya then replied saying she chose the hairstyle to remind people of color of how versatile our hair is. This event inspired Barbie to create a Zendaya barbie resembling her iconic Oscars look into a doll. She has proven to the world she is not afraid of speaking up and out when necessary.

Zendaya has proven to be a role model in various areas including acting, dancing, entrepreneurship, and being outspoken. Just by the small act of her choice of hairstyle at events is inspiring young girls and women of color to embrace their hair versatility. Now as the face of CoverGirl, Zendaya has the opportunity to represent women of color in the beauty industry. The star released this statement to the press: “I am so honored to join the company of a roster as celebrated and diverse as CoverGirl's. I can’t wait to share some of my own beauty tips with fans, and work alongside CoverGirl to continue empowering girls and women to celebrate their individuality.” Zendaya is the perfect choice for this new position as she is not afraid to take risks with beauty choices and even does her own makeup for some red carpet events. The 19-year-old also has over 19 million followers on Instagram, as well as over six million followers on Twitter where she interacts with fans and can share her favorite CoverGirl products. CoverGirl chose Zendaya to be the new face of their brand in hopes to "empower girls and women alike to embrace their uniqueness" just as this star has proved to do in the last few years.

It is truly inspiring that someone my age and of African descent has landed such a major beauty contract. It is so refreshing to see a young, African American woman be the face of this campaign and is now in a position to remind young black girls that the world is theirs to gain.

Now with all of her accomplishments thus far, she now gets to celebrate the addition of a contract with one of the most popular and best-selling beauty brands in the world. Best of luck to Zendaya in this new role of being an easy, breezy, beautiful, CoverGirl .

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
