Social media platforms have made it easier than ever to create and share ideas all across the world. It is almost crazy to think about how much social media has changed actually. I remember using MySpace and Piczo, but now it's more Facebook and Twitter. One social media platform that I may not really create my own content on but I use religiously is YouTube. YouTube is a platform where users share their content with video. While I may not create my own content, there are certain YouTubers that I always make sure I watch. For someone who mainly shares their ideas via written word, it's refreshing and inspiring to see how people can take their ideas and turn them into videos. Here are seven YouTube channels that I strongly suggest you check out and that I can't get enough of!
1. FunForLouis
As the first real YouTuber that I started watching, Louis Cole is still my favorite to watch. He travels the world and he shows he journey through vlogs, or video blogs. I don't think he ever actually takes a break from traveling and the places and things he does is awe-inspiring. He basically lives the life I dream of. He definitely lives up to his slogan: live the adventure.
2. Mike Falzone
Mike Falzone is a comedian in California. His sense of humor is dry and if you don't listen close enough, you almost miss it-- but that is exactly why he is so hilarious! He also tackles actual issues in his videos using his humor. Users can submit advice questions to him or sometimes he just picks his own topic to tackle, but his humor is present in all his videos.
3. Doddleoddle
Dodie Clark is a singer/song-writer from Ireland. She has such a soft, delicate voice but yet writes songs that hit you the hardest. Her talent shows especially in songs where she creates harmonies with herself as well as playing multiple instruments, like ukulele and piano, making full songs by herself in her room.
4. JacksGap
These two world-traveling twins are also part of the reason I have such a bad case of wanderlust. Their content is incredibly professional and so well put together that is blows my mind to think they are my age. They tell incredible, heart-touching stories through their videos. The video series that stuck out to me the most was their "Rickshaw Run" series. They are the whole reason I want to go on my own Rickshaw Run one day in India.
5. Vsauce
So, I'm one of those people that loves learning. Yes, I understand how nerdy that sounds. But Michael Stevens creates educational videos over every topic imaginable that help me stock up on knowledge that I will probably never use anywhere. He covers topics about why the way someone else sees red is different than another person all the way to what it would be like to be in a spherical mirror. So if you want to geek out, you'd love this channel.
6. Mary Doodles
Mary Gutfleisch, or Mary Doodles, is an artist. Her style is hypnotic and eerie, but also with fun little twists. Some of my favorite videos of hers are where strangers draw scribbles and she creates something from those scribbles or when she tells stories through her drawings. I am always enthralled with her drawings, so maybe you will be too.
7. Itswaypastmybedtime
Carrie Hope Fletcher is a singer, author and actress. I honestly don't know what she doesn't do. From playing Eponine in "Les Miserables" to writing two books at the same exact time, she is an amazing inspiration. She is incredibly down to earth and creates content that is actually fun to watch. From song covers to disney-themed trivia, her videos almost make me wish I knew her in real life!
