"What seems to us as bitter trials are often blessings in disguise."-Oscar Wilde
I stress about absolutely everything. If something goes wrong, then I get really upset and freak out. I like to have things perfect, but sometimes things aren't perfect.
There is a saying I am sure we have all heard that says, "When God closes a door, He opens another." Well, this is not always so simple. God has a plan for everything, but we as humans have a tendency to want things to happen when we want them to. Sometimes life just stinks, but it is all a journey to fulfill God's purpose for our lives.
Philippians 4:6 & 7 says, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
The trials that we face are there to help us realize that we can't do things on our on. We need God's help to show us the way. We need to get rid of our worries and place our trust in Him. There is a song by Laura Story, called Blessings, that tells us that whatever pain we are feeling right now will eventually end. Our trials are rain and we are seeds planted in the ground. When it rains, things are gross and wet, but the rain is needed for flowers to grow. When we face trials, we are forced to turn to God and when the trials pass, we grow closer to Him.
Blessings says, "'Cause what if your blessings come through rain drops? What if Your healing comes through tears? What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near? What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise?"
This song is very powerful. We need to surrender ourselves to the Lord. He is the only one who can fix the things that we have messed up. Yes, things will hurt and you will want the pain to cease right away, but we need to trust God because He knows what is best for us. Christ died for our sins, we just need to have faith in His plan. This life and the pain that we endure is only temporary, but our lives in Christ are forever.
As Matthew 11:28-30 tells us, "Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
