How do you know when you've found your partner-in-crime?

This isn't going to be some melodramatic "open letter" type thing. That would be oh so cliché, right? This is appreciating just how truly lucky you are if you have found that right person. No, this is not your lover, your boyfriend/girlfriend and it's certainly not your dog... Your person could easily have been a stranger to you a little less than a year ago. Mine just so happens to be someone I knew since kindergarten but didn't become best friends with until a year ago. Now this person is my other half and a shoulder to cry on. She's always a text or phone call away and I can't express how grateful I am for that. So how do we know when we've found our person?

1. They are the first person you text "OMG guess what?!?!" to when you have that 'OMG' moment.

2. When you're with them you feel a six pack coming on from laughing so hard.

3. When you're together people think you're absolutely insane because you both practically have your own language and laugh at everything.

4. If you meet a guy, you make sure they have friends so that "your person" can go on double dates with you.

5. You have multiple group chats with one constant name in them all : Your person's, of course.

6. Your parents cook for them and ask if they are coming over for the holidays.

7. You look forward to car rides where you blast the old 2000 classics and drive around beeping at random people... basically you both look like fools, but hey, who cares right?

8. You get into the same social media wars (one of you got into it and the other shot to your defense, that's what your person is for, duh).

9. The same people get on both of your nerves.

10. You're each others 'fake phone call/text' for when a date goes bad.

11. You know each others deepest, darkest secrets and you constantly tease and remind them about that one hookup with the guy with the bizarre name.

12. When they go out on a date you blow up their phone with questions (curiosity kills!)

13. You die from anticipation when they don't answer right away, so you just sit and stare at a wall.

14. They push you to be the best possible version of yourself... even when you don't want to be.

15. They're your first phone call in any sticky situation.

Theres no denying you've done some ridiculous stuff together that'll make awesome memories for when you're both old and gray. Be thankful for this very special person in your life. After all, you're pretty lucky to have found your partner in crime and go-to texting buddy! Imagine how lonely life would be without her! So get off your phone and go hug your best friend!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
