Your Krispy Kreme Man Is Coming, Ladies

Never settle for the gas station donut guy when yours is almost hot and holy ready.

Your Krispy Kreme Man Is Coming, Ladies
Ali Sizemore

You're driving down the road and suddenly it's there. It's what you've been waiting for since you started driving. The hot and ready light is on. The Krispy Kreme donuts are hot and fresh. Your mouth starts watering because of the sweet goodness you know that sign will lead you to. Of course you pull over, thanking the Lord you didn’t get the gas station donuts down the road. No other donut could even compare to a hot Krispy Kreme donut. Nothing even comes close. It was a donut worth waiting for, and none compares to it. Krispy Kreme is the donut.

When something is that good, you wait for it. You don’t spend all you have on something that’s second best. You save everything in preparation for the one worth waiting for. Sometimes it seems the only important thing in this world is relationships. We’ve all heard them- the one-liners. “Be patient and wait on the Lord’s timing.” “That boy who hurt you is nothing like the man the Lord has for you.” “Don’t look for God’s man, let him find you.” Women (usually the ones who already found their man) will tell you all about waiting. Wait for the man, wait for God’s timing, wait, wait and wait again. Sometimes it seems like there’s so much waiting that Superman couldn’t even be worth it all.

But let me tell you about your Krispy-Kreme man.

That light will go on when you pass him, and the decision will be made. He and his hot and holy goodness will be nothing but irresistible. Suddenly you’ll be thankful you didn’t stop to get the gas station boy. That boy could never be as good as your Krispy Kreme man, not even close. Because this Krispy Kreme man is the one the Lord created for you. He’ll love you with the love of his Maker. He’ll respect you as the one and only one he’ll ever have, and he’ll make you the happiest girl in the world, all because this relationship was ordained by your Maker before you were born. That “hot and ready” light comes on for a reason, don’t make your decision until it comes on.

Right now the Lord is preparing your heart and the heart of this unknown man. You both have to grow individually before you can grow together. There’s a reason the light isn’t always on, there’s much preparation that has to take place.

I can be so selfish, stubborn and jealous. I like to have my own way, and I absolutely love being right. The Lord and I have been working on those lovely attributes for a while now, but it wasn’t until I surrendered all those things that I was ready for him to turn on that light. But when I saw what came when I was ready, I realized this man was worth every moment of waiting. He’s more than any fairy tale I could’ve ever come up with. He leads me and loves me. He makes me smile and laugh. He meets every need my daddy knew I had. He was hand-picked just for me, only to receive when we were both ready. He’s my gift, and I thank Him every day.

There’s nothing in this world that is a good enough substitute for what the Lord has been making for you. He’s forming someone so intricately and specifically for you. Don’t settle for the gas station donuts. Wait for that ready light to come on, knowing what it brings has been prepared for you.

Your hot and holy Krispy Kreme man is coming, ladies. Just you wait.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
