This is for the one who keeps coming face to face with the word impossible. You have been told time after time to "dream big" or "the sky is the limit". You have been told this so many times that you have finally decided it is time to start dreaming. Your mind begins to slowly wander at first and then your heart takes over and starts sprinting into the future. Excitement takes over and you get that feeling in your stomach that perhaps maybe you can accomplish this passionate dream of yours. Keeping in mind what others have told you, you take the first step. Now, this first step may seem small, but it just may be the scariest one you'll have to take. This inevitably scary step sends your nerves into a state of uneasiness.
Well, that's it. You have decided you are going to put one foot in front of the other and proceed forward with this heartening dream of yours. You gather your thoughts and passions and approach someone in your life. More than likely, you don't go to just anyone. Instead, picking the person who has the opinion that you value most. For the first time, someone hears this dream of yours. You wait in eager expectation for their input and response. Maybe for you, they were very supportive and almost just as excited as you are about this future dream. Or maybe you're the one who gets laughed at. They begin pulling your dream apart with so many technicalities and questions. Now you even start to question it as well.
No matter at what stage in life you are in, you can dream. Whether you are just starting high school or about to go to college; a parent to three children or going off to training for the military. Whether you are celebrating your fiftieth wedding anniversary or your ninetieth birthday. Maybe you just opened your own business and are unsure of the next step. No matter where you are at on your timeline of life, you can dream.
Take a moment. What is your dream? What are you passionate about? Maybe it is becoming a mother or father. Maybe it's marrying your better half. Maybe it's playing professional basketball. Perhaps it is landing a six figure job or advancing in your military position. Maybe you want to open your own restaurant on the coast or save animals across the country. Maybe it is going overseas to make a difference or maybe it is adopting a child. It might even be obtaining your Doctorate's degree in the profession you desire. It could be becoming known for your music or writing. Maybe you want to be that famous artist that in years to come has paintings hung and sold across the nation and even across the world. Regardless if I have named off your dream or not or some variation of it, the possibilities are endless. There is absolutely nothing that you cannot do if you put your mind to it. Although, it starts with the dream.
Dream, then dream bigger. Take that dream and get excited about it, ecstatic even. Do not be afraid to share that dream. Shout it from the mountaintops if that is what it takes. But, do yourself a favor. Never let go of it and do not lose sight of the passion that overtakes you. You CAN do it. It might take some help here and there, and it is okay if you cannot do it alone. That is what family and close friends are for. People are going to question you and try to tear you apart. Use what they have to say as motivation to accomplish that passionate dream. Tell me I can do it and I might. But, tell me I can't do it and I will.
We are given passions for a number of reasons. Take your passion and dream again. Only this time, stop at nothing to go for it. Take that first scary step and share your heart. Those who really love you and support you will be there to back you up. It might take them a moment at first but they will come around if you mean enough to them.
Follow your dreams as crazy as they sound at first. Don't reach for the stars, reach past them. The sky is not the limit because even it has an ending. You are the limit. Your dream will go as far as you take it. Do not give up. Impossibility is nonexistent. Banish that word from your vocabulary. Instead you should think and say, "I'm possible." I believe in you. But, sometimes that isn't enough. You have to believe in yourself.
So, I challenge you to dream again. Even bigger than before.
