Younger Me...

If I could tell my younger self a few things...

Dear younger me,

You're probably scared of the future, you don't really know where life is going to take you, but you know it's going to take you somewhere... I want to tell you a few things you should know before you start to worry.

Take time for you...

I wish I would have known this sooner... Love yourself, hype yourself up, spoil yourself... It's not selfish one bit. Be you, and love it. Self-love is so important, and I didn't really know that until recently.

Go for it...

Don't spend life tiptoeing around everything you think is too risky, but still be cautious, not all impulse decisions are good ones. So if you want to cut your hair short, do it. If you want to go 8 hours away from college, go. If you want to dye your hair a funky color, do it (maybe not the whole head.)

Stay drama free...

I know that not every situation can be drama free, but you can definitely avoid it. You're going to go through a lot of situations with different people that may break you, but it's in your best heart not to let that create drama.

It's okay to be single...

Most of your friends will get into relationships but don't feel pressured to hop into one, you need to fully love your self before you can love anyone else... And plus being single is more fun!

Numbers don't define you...

Whether that be an ACT score, dress size, or your bank account, those numbers don't define you. You are yourself and you shouldn't change that at all!

You are AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL, and BRILLIANT... Never let anyone EVER tell you differently!

Love,

Me

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
