A Young Woman's View On "Babes for Trump"

They say negative attention is better than no attention, but are photos of young women in bikinis really the best way to make America great again?

I try to keep an open mind when it comes to politics. I like to do the research and be educated on where each candidate stands as opposed to basing my opinions solely on the media. However, one person I cannot keep an open mind with is Mr. Trump. I think someone who makes fun of people with special needs, encourages violence, and uses foul language at their events should not be anywhere near a Presidential election. In fact, I think most people would agree that he is making a joke out of our election process.

What I find even more disturbing about Mr. Trump’s campaign are his diehard- almost cult like- supporters. If you’ve watched his rallies or the Republican debates, or even just seen short news stories, you’ve probably seen some interesting characters supporting Donald. I am not saying that Trump is the only candidate with extreme supporters, each person in the running has some passionate supporters.

Yesterday, I found what could be considered the most ludicrous social media account in support of Mr. Trump. The group is called Babes for Trump and they have accounts on Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram. Babes for Trump was started by four male college students, and if you take a look at the accounts you can easily see the male mind behind it.

Babes for Trump is mostly a collection of photos of young women in swimwear, undergarments, or just plain old nude with things written on themselves showing their devotion to Trump. There are a few photos with clothed young ladies, but for the most part the photos are focused on the derrieres of the featured women. How that is supporting Trump is still a puzzle to me. I am going to take a guess and say that most of the girls featured have not read up on the issues being discussed in this election, and have probably been swept up in the Donald Trump hype.

I am under no means trying to bash the women featured on the Babes for Trump accounts. If they are confident enough with their bodies to submit such risque photos then kudos to them! You go girls! I would just like to see more substantial reasoning behind their endorsement of Donald. I would suggest accompanying the tweets with a reason they support him, like his views on a popular political issue. Maybe even showing more faces and less rear ends. The last thing we need in this election is another slap in the face to our political system.

I am sure Mr. Trump, who has been known to rank women based on their appearance, would approve of the Babes for Trump accounts. I am also positive that George Washington and our Founding Fathers are turning in their graves.

All I ask of young voters across the country is this; educate yourselves on the issues, carry yourselves with class, and please have some clothes on before posting in the name of politics.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
