College is the only time you can make the most out of your week-long break. You have an entire week off from school and you can do anything you want. There are four spring breaks across the span of your college career, and I suggest you do something new every year and make the most out of it because honestly, you are never going to have these breaks again. You can go to a college spring break destination, to another country, or stay in your hometown and relax with family. Ideally, this is what your four years of spring break should look like; it's my plan at least.
Freshman Year:
This is your first year away from home, from your friends, and most importantly from your pets. So your best bet is to stay home and catch up with them all. You are still a baby in your parents' eyes, so the odds are not in your favor. Take a step back from the fast paced college life and relax at home, talk to your family and hometown friends, and most importantly, binge watch Netflix. One week of solely doing nothing but enjoying the comforts of your home is the best way to go about your freshman year spring break. Not to mention your parents are probably going to pamper you while you're home.
Sophomore Year:
Now this is your second year of spring break and it's about that time when you realize that you only have 2 more spring breaks left. Explore and have fun! However, you don't want to go to the best college spring break locations and be stuck repeating it for the next two years, especially because these trips can get expensive. Your second spring break should be spent with your home friends somewhere. Whether it is a road trip to a different state or a flight to Florida or California, it will be fun because you have a lot to catch up on with these friends. The only problem is making sure everyone's spring breaks match up with each others. Other than that, it is the perfect time reminisce on old times and make memories that will last a lifetime.
Junior Year:
Alright, now you are a junior and you want to have as much fun as possible because it's a stressful year in your life and you just want to get away from it all. Not to mention you are freaking out that time is catching up to you and you only have one more spring break left. You have probably lived with your roommates for three years and made some of your best friends, some of who may be graduating this year. This is the year you travel to the top college spring break destinations. Go with your whole fraternity or sorority, or just spend time with your best friends. This is one break that you can never top. It's the spring break you talk about for the whole year and the one that you will never forget. These destinations will probably include Punta Cana, Panama City Beach, Bahamas, Puerto Vallarta and of course, Cancun.
Senior Year:
Is it already your senior year? Where did the time go? This time next year, you will probably be behind a desk wishing you could be back in college reliving the spring break memories. Now, this is your last spring break and you want it to be the best and the most memorable. The one that will top all spring breaks. This is the year you combine everyone and go somewhere exotic that you were unable to go to junior year. However, you might have enjoyed your junior year destination so much that you decide you want to go there again. Except this year, you take all your friends- not just your fraternity or sorority. Go with the friends you've made throughout your four years at school and introduce them to your second family. Everyone is connected and it is the best way to end your era of spring breaks.
My advice: Live it up as much as possible because you will never get these week-long vacations back. You will never have the chance to make these memories again.
