Going Home For Spring Break

Sometimes It Is Nice to Ditch the Beach

Going Home For Spring Break

Spring break is on all college students minds and it's no secret that everyone is excited. Whether you are in sunny Arizona enjoying the perfect weather or in the freezing cold of the Midwest, everyone is daydreaming of spring break. It is one week filled with (hopefully) sunshine, beaches, best friends and more. I guess you could say that is the typical spring break plan. However, there are plenty of other cool and exciting activities and trips that you can take if lying on the beach and gaining the perfect tan is not really your thing.

For some, ditching the crowded beaches during spring break is something they want to do. Instead, going home and spending time with family is a better alternative. For some out-of-state students taking a week to just go home and be with family is so much more enjoyable. Plus, you get a home cooked meal which, let's face it, every college student misses. You can also say hello to your bed too. It is no secret the old twin mattress that you are forced to sleep on in college sucks and you would do just about anything to have your bigger and better bed with you while at school. You also get to see your dog and that is probably the best feeling in the world.

Another great thing about going home for spring break: day trips! Every state has hidden treasures in it. Grab a few friends who are also home for spring break and go explore your own state. You would be amazed at how much fun you can have on a little adventure with your favorite people. You can find the perfect destination just by typing in a few words into your search bar and go. You will be surprised by how many places you have not been that are so close. Believe me, you will be asking your parents why they did not take you there sooner.

Going home for spring break also allows you to connect with old friends again. Everyone knows that you don't always get to go to college with all of your best friends and sometimes you drift apart. It can be hard to see your once best friend post picture after picture with some new girl you do not know even if you are doing the same thing. If you go home you can reconnect with the people that you haven't seen in a long time. Plus, there is nothing better than spending time with an old best friend talking non-stop and going on all of those late-night adventures that you used to in high school.

Some people love the beach and that is all they can think about when it comes to spring break. Others are just wishing to go home. Either way, it is important to make the most of it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
