5 Reasons why Everyone Needs To start Watching the Netflix Reboot Of "Queer Eye"

In This Article:

This Netflix reboot of "Queer Eye" features Jonathan Van Ness, Tan France, Antoni Porowski, Karamo Brown, and Bobby Berk. For those who do not know the premise of the show, basically, a friend will nominate someone to become a better version of themselves with the help of the gay Fab 5. Jonathan handles grooming and new haircuts, Tan helps with fashion, Antoni teaches people how to make simple, delicious meals, Karamo is in charge of culture, and Bobby redoes the homes of the people in the show. What makes the show great is that the Fab 5 do not try to change a person, they help them gain confidence and to feel more secure in who they are. That and the following 5 reasons is why everyone needs to integrate "Queer Eye" into their life!

1. The show is a combination of house, fashion, and hair makeover.

There always comes a strange satisfaction from watching the shows on the Home Network channel, where they take these dumps and transform them into beautiful designer homes. With "Queer Eye" that satisfaction is only increased. You are not subjected to watching all of the strenuous dirty work that comes with transforming a home, and you get the addition of a whole-body makeover. Watching all of these people feel more confident in themselves with their body and home makeovers gives you the hope that you too can gain more self-confidence.

2. It is HILARIOUS (especially Jonathan).

Not an episode of "Queer Eye" will go by without you laughing at something Jonathan says. Jonathan is by the far the most flamboyant of the Fab 5. With his exclamations of "Yas queen!" and "Fiercedom Honey!" it is hard not to be delighted by how outrageous he is. His flamboyance does not make the straight, white men on the show uncomfortable either. He infuses the situation with light and humor that makes them more comfortable being around 5 gay men that they may feel a little strange around.

3. The show betters the people not only in appearance but as a whole.

I do not think that there is an episode of "Queer Eye" where the person being made over does not cry. The Fab 5 instills in them a newfound confidence that makes them feel like a better version of themselves. The one mainly responsible for the more internal transformation is Karamo. He has deep, important conversations with the people and works out what he can do to make feel more at peace with who they are and who they want to be. This show is wonderful in teaching that how you feel about yourself on both the inside and outside is integral in improving yourself.

4. All of the Fab 5 are gorgeous and have AMAZING outfits.

This is one of the more superficial reasons for watching "Queer Eye," but it is still important. Seeing a wide range of attractive and confident gay men is both satisfying, and it helps for others to gain awareness that being gay does not mean you have to act or be a certain way. Someone who is gay can be feminine or masculine, or any other way they want to be.

5. It shows acceptance and love of everyone.

Unlike the original "Queer Eye," the reboot makes over all kinds of people, gay, straight, man, woman, Indian, Christian, and many more. They helped a gay man come out to his stepmother and had serious conversations about religion relating to homosexuality and relations between blacks and the police force. The people one would expect to be against homosexuality show the Fab 5 acceptance and love that the world needs.

This sweet show brings tears to my eyes almost everytime I watch it. The love and acceptance shown between such a wide variety of people give me hope that perhaps our world will eventually become kinder to everyone in it. Perhaps watching shows like "Queer Eye" can help every person to instill a little bit of kindness into their everyday actions.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
