You Know You're Sarcastic When...

If you are sarcastic, you know that it is just part of who you are and there is little you can do to stop it; sarcasm is your first language. Your friends love you anyway, but it can rub some people the wrong way. Here are some signs that you are fluent in sarcasm.

1. You often have to tell people that you are just joking.

No, you're not being serious. Yes, you are rolling your eyes.

2. People who are happy and positive all the time just annoy you.

Seriously, people, life is not always that great.

3. You use sarcasm to mask your emotions.

You tend to be guarded, and it takes you a while to let people in. So in the meantime, you rely on your handy-dandy sarcasm.

4. Sometimes people do not think you appreciate gifts because you are not "excited" enough.

I really do love my new socks, Mom.

5. Everyone thinks that just because you are quiet, you are super sweet.

If they only knew about those zingers you are coming up with right now.

6. There are those moments that you have to compliment yourself when your remark is just TOO good.

*pats self on back*

7. You are constantly rolling your eyes.

Sorry, but it was worth another eye roll.

8. People look at your face and instantly know what you are thinking.

You will never win a game of poker.

9. You always have the thought, "Why are people so dumb?"

It's not like the professor answered that four times already.

10. You come up with the best sarcastic comments at the wrong times.

Too bad you thought of a winning remark while sitting in eight o'clock geology.

11. Sometimes you do nothing but think up sassy remarks to use in future situations.

Sitting in your dorm room by yourself is the perfect time to create more works of art.

12. Texting is sometimes a problem, because your sarcasm is not always perceived as sarcasm.

Sometimes it is hard to use emojis and punctuation to properly express yourself.

13. You find it hard to refrain from commenting sarcastic remarks on social media.

Did they really just say that?

14. You are always amazed by how clever you are.

Wow. Just wow.

15. Your friends are always telling you to stop being so sarcastic.

Who would you be without sarcasm?

16. Those times where you ABSOLUTELY CANNOT be sarcastic are the actual worst.

Be nice. Be nice. Be nice.

17. You do not know how to handle it when your emotions get the best of you.

I know, isn't it amazing that I have emotions?

18. There is no greater feeling than when you find someone who is just as sarcastic as you.

You think you have found your soulmate. Hello, new best friend!

19. You know how accurate this saying is: "I'm not always sarcastic. Sometimes I'm sleeping."

So very true.

20. You get to the point where even you cannot tell if you are being sarcastic or serious.

But let's face it, you are probably being sarcastic.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
