You have time to save the planet, so please
don't give me a list of excuses as to why you can't.
Because it seems to me that all we see is change that's irrelevant.
We change our light bulbs to CFLs and think that's good enough; we've done our deed.
But our deed isn't finished until we see actualchange.
Past generations call upon millennials to be the voice of this movement
as if they don't have voices themselves.
Why does one generation need to fix the problems that began before they were even thought of?
We're told to get degrees that matter, but that list consists of majors
Where you sit in cubicles, stare at screens, and type.
I want to see more students in majors where they can save a life.
Whether it be a human's, an animal's, or a tree's,
I want to know that my great grandchildren's planet will still have coral reefs and bees.
I know that change has to start with our generation, but we can't do it alone.
We need help of the older generations who have seen the changes come and go.
So don't give me that crap that you don't have time to save the planet.
We wait around for buses or scroll through Facebook for hours
When we could be calling our government offices and asking,
"Do you have the same values as ours?"
Place the blame on those in higher power.
Because though you may be just one person, one voice
Together we are a chorus.
It's time we stopped practicing and headed onstage for the live show.
And how ashamed would you be if you told your children you didn't go.
