“To receive much, you must give much” is a statement frequently used in my sorority. It can be interpreted in a so many different ways, but there is one meaning that stand out to me the most: “what you put in is what you get out”. This is so true, especially in sorority life. If you are just showing up to required events and paying your dues, then you aren’t going to benefit a whole lot from the organization. BUT, if you do those two things, plus join committees, run for leadership opportunities, spend quality time with your sisters, help out wherever needed, and do extra service just for fun, then I guarantee you will spark growth. Growth within yourself and growth within your sorority chapter. Which of the two sounds more fun to you? I personally love helping out my sisters any way that I can. I am not only giving, but I am receiving so much. I am a better leader, friend, helper, and communicator, all because I gave. I know that if I didn’t give to my chapter, my chapter wouldn’t be able to give back to me.
So, new members and actives, I strongly encourage you to take on this school year with the mindset “to receive much, you must give much”. Watch and see how you and your chapter grow. It will be amazing.
