From college students to princesses, two juniors at College of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale, New York have started an organization that gives kids the chance to be kids. With a love for kids, and of course Disney Princesses, these lovely girls have made a difference in the lives of many kids throughout New York City.
In 2014, Maggie McAndrew and Kylee McGrane decided to combine their efforts as best friends and start dressing up as Anna and Elsa from Disney's hit movie Frozen. The girls go to local hospitals in the boroughs of New York visiting sick children and boosting spirits.
From bedside visits to group storytelling, the girls touch the lives of not only children, but the parents who have to see their children go through something so difficult. When Anna and Elsa walk into the room, eyes light up and hugs aren't far behind.
The best part is that they do all of this for free. With a mission to “to re-deliver the magic of believing at a time when they need to 'just be a kid,' and remind them to be brave, strong, and fearless.” these girls are destined to go far, and touch the lives of many princes and princesses.
The magic does not stop there. You, too, can become a Disney Princess or Marvel superhero by combining in their efforts. Maggie and Kylee are looking for more people in the New York City area to join them in making sick children feel like kids again. If you want to make a difference, and touch lives please visit their website or email them at theprincessprojectnybx@gmail.com
The Princess Project would like to expand throughout the country to keep spreading magic and innocence to young children who need it the most. Please consider donating to this fantastic organization. To donate visit their gofundme page. They're almost to their goal!
