You Are Not Annoying

Despite what they say.

You Are Not Annoying
onewayoramother

It takes a long time for you to trust someone, to let them in. It takes quite a bit of knocking before you open the door and allow them to see the interior of your heart. Maybe they are still on the front porch, maybe they have had a peek inside or maybe they are so comfortable within your heart it is as if they own it. No matter where the mark lands on the trust meter, their opinion has been vitally important to you and I am here to tell you that you are not what they say you are.

Your stories are valuable. If they are important enough that you captured them in your memory, then they are important enough to be captured aloud.

Your thoughts are interesting. Your mind is unique and therefore, the thoughts should be shared to expand others' minds as well.

Your rambling is fun. So what if you cannot focus on one subject when talking or so what if your "boring" stories sometimes take 10-15 minutes to tell? Your passion and excitement is fun and is what makes you you.

Your silence is okay. Maybe there are times when you do not wish to speak or you do not have anything to say. That is okay. You are not here solely for others' entertainment; you do not need to appease others who are uncomfortable with silence.

Your dreams are incredible and attainable. Do not let others who are afraid of your potential scare you away from your own power.

Your fears are valid, but you can overcome them. We all deserve acknowledgement, do not let someone dismiss your fears because they are "silly". On the other hand, do not let anyone tell you that your fears are bigger than you.

Your laugh is beautiful. It is a manifestation of your joy, do not let that be robbed from you because someone finds the sound unpleasant. Anyone who says that is probably an unpleasant person.

Your hobbies are important. If they do not want to join you, so be it; however, do not let them tear you down for what you enjoy doing.

Keep telling your stories, speaking your mind, rambling on about nonsense, being silent when you have nothing to say. Continue dreaming big, fighting your fears, laughing loudly and pursuing what brings you joy. Do not stop being yourself just because someone else is insecure or judgmental. You are not annoying.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
