The latest trend on the internet has people debating whether or not they heard Yanny or Laurel in an audio clip, it has basically become the new version of the dress debate. People have gotten into arguments over it, there have been huge national debates about it, even celebrities and politicians have gotten into debates over it.

I feel like if people were having as much of a discussion of how to make the world a better place, then imagine what the world would be like. Here are some things that are a better use of your time than this.

1. Recycling

You know that plastic is bad for the ocean, if you put it into the wrong bin it could end up in the ocean, make sure whenever you go shopping if you can use reusable bags, And always teach your kids or any kids for that matter how important it is to recycle it can really save the environment.

2. Volunteer anywhere

There are many different places that can use your help, find out what you are passionate about doing and go sign up for a shift or maybe become a full time volunteer.

3. Clean out your room and donate those items

We all have items laying around our rooms that we don't even use anymore. So look for a charity that needs those kinds of items and give them to those who need them the most.

4. Cook for a shelter

Often there are homeless shelters and soup kitchens that may need some volunteers to cook for them and homeless people could really use a nice hot meal, whether you are behind the table serving the food or cooking the food go volunteer at your local shelter.

5. Donate blood

If you are able you should donate blood, you never know who might be your blood type, if you are unable to donate, talk to others on why it is important to donate blood and how it can save lives.

6. Build a house

Sign up with Habitat for Humanity and start on building houses for disaster-torn areas or for someone who just needs a home.

7. Set up a donation jar

Have people drop a few coins in to help out a good cause of your choice.

Doesn't that matter more than figuring out Yanny or Laurel?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
