Career Opportunities! Money! Multiple goals that you have set out and plan to accomplish! These are few expressions that describe a person who is goal-oriented and desires to have success. Believe it or not, there is nothing wrong with a person staying determined because he or she is encouraged by relatives and friends that truly support their dreams. Most importantly, these people are risk-takers because they have an inspiration to follow their hearts.

However, there may be some dangers for being way too ambitious. Someone who has this kind of mindset may forget practicality, become indecisive towards everything, and lose important people that value them most. For instance, we all hear that common saying, "the sky is the limit." Well, we are never limited to opportunities that are granted to us, even if it is something that is totally unexpected. Yet, it seems like when we take a task or a goal, we lose a sense of ourselves because we are too busy taking upon several endeavors. In result, it causes us to put a hold on two essential things that matter more than anything: "fun and family."

Personally, I fall victim to an individual who is strictly goal-driven because I want to contribute something to society and be successful. Nonetheless, I realized that as a young, college student I miss out on fun opportunities at school and with my family. For example, my normal routine at school consists of going to my classes and spending so many hours studying in the library and trying to complete many assignments in one day. Sometimes I question myself, "What about my social life or how can I find the balance between the two?"

I find it difficult to enjoy life because I am to dedicated to my schoolwork and I feel like I am entitled to it. But, I reminded myself that sometimes you don't have to overwork yourself and you deserve a little break. That is a part of life! You don't want to bite more than you can chew with your goals because it could become overbearing. It is better that you slow down and take your time. It is just like baking or learning to ride a bike. If you measure thing out and devote time to working on your goals, then you realize that you do your absolute best in everything when you do things at a slower pace!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
