Because if I’m only 20 years old and I believe there should be rules and guidelines in a government, I’m crossing the line.

Yup. You read that correctly.

I’m not a radical reformist and I’m not voting for Hillary Clinton. I believe life begins at conception and that a person’s a person no matter how small. I really don’t want to “#FreeTheNip” and I truly don’t understand why feminazi-ism is sweeping the nation. I don’t see why a flag construing personal beliefs can’t be hung on private property. I believe in God and I believe that I can will pray in public if that’s what the situation brings. I think everyone living in this country should be working for a living and I don’t think it’s fair when people get away with not paying their share. I don’t think guns are the problem and yes, there was even a brief stint when I was going to vote for Donald Trump in the primaries.

And no, I’m not a rich white male.

But somehow, somewhere in this era, that’s where we drew the line. It’s like wearing a suit and having a dad-bod and a slightly receding hairline are the pre-requisites to believing in conservatism.

Because if I’m only 20 years old and I believe there should be rules and guidelines in a government, I’m crossing the line.

Every story has two sides; a conflict. If it didn’t it would be boring. And it is boring. But you’ll rarely see the Millennial generation, the Y-generation, this generation, represented from both sides because conservatives are in fear of others thinking they’re heartless. But it gets tiring: reading every John-Locke-Meets-Twenty-First-Century article when every writer is hash-tagging the same thing.

I’m a college student. A female. A proud supporter of the GOP. And most definitely not heartless. And I’ll tell you what that means to me.

I don’t believe women deserve less rights than men. And believing minimum wage shouldn’t be raised to $15 an hour doesn’t mean I think people working at McDonald’s shouldn’t have enough money to live. I don’t think my neighbor having a Confederate flag up is going to hurt that person that just drove by. And outlawing abortion is definitely not about hurting a mother’s body, but about giving another body a chance to live.

I don’t believe that all Americans shouldn’t be equal and I don’t believe that having money entitles you to greater rights. That’s not what conservatism is. Conservatism is understanding that we have limited resources as human beings and you can’t just give everyone what they want without there being a cost somewhere or to someone else down the line. It’s understanding that life may not be easy and it may not be fair, but it is fair in that it’s unfair. Conservatism is understanding that the best thing we can do is minimize the cost to as many people as possible.

The point is: you rarely read something written by a 20-something year old that isn’t about everyone just getting everything they want, regardless of the cost it puts on other people. There is a lack of voice for the younger Republican party at this day in age.The point is that while, yes, equality and justice are both two things America needs, structure and decency wouldn’t hurt either.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
