Do you have that deadline for your article coming up and you have no idea what you are going to write about because life got a little hectic this week or you just can't think of a topic? Don't panic! Everyone has experienced writers block from one time or another.
Here are 4 tips to get you out of that funk and meet that deadline!
1. News
Look at some top stories in the news and see if anything interests you. Looking for the top searched stories on social media or other outlets, are a good place to start since they are more current and people may have more of an interest in what is happening now. Keep your options open! Sometimes the weight of the world can be quite draining with all of the negative events going on so don't just limit yourself to serious news. I'm sure there is someone out there who wants to read something that doesn't have to do with people dying or war. Feel free to check out some more positive outlets like fashion, dating or new business articles.
2.What is bugging you this week?
Write about your life. It can be quite therapeutic to put your mind on autopilot and write down your inner thoughts. You may find out some things about yourself that you didn't even know. Reading your own thoughts also can help you solve personal issues you may struggle with. Plus being able to tap into your mind is equivalent to that much needed "me time". Writing about yourself can make you more relatable to your audience. People enjoy feeling like they are apart of the story or can understand your perspective. Sometimes your perspective can give others an insight on other issues within their own lives.
3. Think outside the box
Put yourself in the seat of a reader of your article. What would interest you and hold your attention? Keep your options open. Don't be surprised that it is possible to get tired of your own regular ideas. Research something that is off the wall and see what you can come up with. Google some new hobbies that may interest you. Maybe even take it a step further and go and experience some new things you have been researching. Groupon is a great way to try new things on a budget! First hand experience is always the best. The world is full of cool ideas. Plus learning new things will expand your mind.
4. Take a break
DON'T WRITE! Sometimes it's just not there. You get frustrated or you start to write something you're not proud of. Go and do something that makes you feel good so you can release some of those happy endorphins. Everyone is busy and sometimes the mind just needs a break. When you are able to clear your mind then the ideas will start to flow more freely.
