With Spring Break and warm weather slowly approaching, the winter pounds from all the late night Ian runs and nightly deliveries of Toppers are no longer needed as an extra layer of insulation. If you’re like me and are starting to realize that having pizza three times a week might not be the best diet, then you’re in luck because I discovered the 4 best places to work off the winter pounds.
Whether you’re a runner, a yogi, or a CYC fanatic, there’s something in Madison for everyone — even with the news of the SERF closing for construction.
1. KAMPS
This new workout studio in Madison is conveniently located next to SaladsUP and the HUB. You will be not disappointed leaving one of their sessions, their classes incorporate sprints on the treadmill with exercises on the floor. You don’t have time to realize how amazing of a workout you’re getting as your jumping off the treadmill onto the floor. The best part is that every day focuses on a different muscle group of your body, so you have the opportunity to tone your arms, abs, legs, and most importantly your butt.
2. CYC
Located right above Fresh Market, CYC offers a variety of cycling classes that will fit whatever mood you're in. The best part of these classes is that each instructor has a playlist that will be sure to pump you up and work off last nights’ drunk munchies.
3. InnerFire Yoga
If you’re looking for a more relaxed workout that will help ease you of any stress, then I highly recommend the Candlelight Yin at Innerfire, which is conveniently located right next to CYC. This session is offered at 7:30 p.m. and will help rid you of any tensions from the day. Not only will it be the most relaxing class you’ll ever take, but if you’re having trouble sleeping it will put you right to sleep as soon as you lay down. Innerfire also offers more intense yoga classes if you’re looking to break a sweat and all of them I highly recommend.
4. Outside
If you’re a broke college student who’s not looking to spend that much on a workout and would prefer to put your money towards drunk night eats, then the fourth and final place I recommend would be running outside. Some of the best places to go for a run in Madison are the Lakeshore path, run to picnic point, and the run to the Arboretum.
