A Word To Fraternity Dudes On Dancing Etiquette

A message from the man on the dance team.

You probably have seen me before; I'm the tall dude at the back of dance team performances. You know, the one messing up all the moves, but looking fly while doing it.

Well, I have some insight for all the bros at frat parties who are wondering why a goofy dude like me gets to be in the center of 30 attractive girls in the middle of the dance floor. Yeah, I see you all watching from the perimeter like sharks circling fish, seeing if you can snag one of the strays gone too far from the school.

The first thing to understand is that when packs of women go out to dance, their first priority is usually just that, to dance and have fun. Just because a woman is dancing in a way that seems provocative doesn't mean they are doing it for you or anyone else besides themselves. Hell, if women thought that every time I popped, locked and dropped it on the floor was an invitation to be touched, I wouldn't be so lonely! So don't make assumptions when you see a woman dancing.

Second, if you do find yourself in a situation where a woman might be eyeing you from across the dance floor, or maybe a girl is backing her way up your alley, the best possible thing that you can do is ask if she would want to dance with you. It is just that simple. Otherwise, me and the other male dancers are going to come around and start grinding on you without asking. Yeah, that doesn't sound so pleasing, now does it? What can I say, we protect our own.

Third, one dance doesn't mean you are obligated for a second dance. Maybe that song just needed to be shared with another person. Maybe you were close to the chips so she used you as a way to be close to the food after the song. Whatever the reason, you are not in charge of how many times a woman will dance with you.

Finally, my last tip to you guys is take some dance lessons. I mean for the love of all that is groovy, your part in dancing with a girl isn't to be a stripper pole. Don't just stand there! Move your hips and I don't mean the entire lower half of your body, I mean just your hips. Dancing with anyone is a conversation between your body and theirs. Follow their movements; if they get lower so do you, or if they switch up the tempo try to keep up!

Hopefully this knowledge will allow you to get the strength to ask that pretty girl to dance. Maybe you might even join me in the middle of the floor surrounded by women. Maybe you will still be that shark, prowling the peripherals. Whatever you choose, just remember to bust a move!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
