Wonderful Aspects of the Fall

The Best Season Ever

Wonderful Aspects of the Fall

Fall is by far my favorite season. The summer heat begins to fade and the wind picks up. Leaves fall from trees and clutter the ground, only to be swept up into piles for people to jump into them. I wish that it lasted for more than a couple of months, but I make the most of it while it's here.

1. The leaves change colors

There are so many colors during this season, which is refreshing compared to all of the green that persists during the summer. I like seeing yellows, oranges, and browns.

2. It gets colder

I prefer colder weather because I would rather bundle up to keep warm than sweat constantly. I like being able to sleep under multiple blankets and sit by the fireplace. Being warm takes on an entirely new concept during the colder parts of the year.

3. More wardrobe choices

This is also a perk of the colder weather. I love wearing leggings and sweaters because I feel more comfortable that way. Plus, there are more shoe options during the fall and winter seasons.

4. Pumpkin carving

This is a tradition for me. Every year I carve at least one pumpkin. It's a fun activity that everyone can enjoy. Last year, I carved one with my brother and one with my roommates at school.

5. Hayrides

This was an activity that I participated in a lot as a child and wouldn't mind doing again as an adult. It's nice to do something outside once the Fall starts because the weather is really nice.

6. Decorating for Halloween

This is my favorite activity during October. I really enjoy Halloween; the dressing up, being scared, watching scary movies. There's so much potential for decorating too because you try to make it scary and cool. My roommates and I decorated our apartment at school last year. It's so fun to involve others in the shenanigans as well.

7. Watching Halloween specials

I love watching shows that are Halloween-themed. The same goes for movies. It just helps me get in the spirit of the holiday.

8. Going to haunted attractions

I really want to attend Scarowinds at some point, perhaps when I have money. At Wingate, I used to go through the haunted house that a fraternity did every year. It was pretty decent and they did a god job considering what they had to work with. I also attended the Wooter attraction, which was a hayride and walk through the woods with a guide relating a scary tale. It was very entertaining.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
