I realized that I wanted to be an English major when I was a senior in high school, long after all my friends had decided their paths in life. I was also the last of my friends to choose a University. After I decided, it seemed so obvious; I love to write, I love to read, I love to edit. Everything finally fell into place. Why did it take me so long to realize it? Further research led me to realize that to become an editor, my major of choice had to be Journalism. It sometimes blows my mind how right my chosen major feels to me. I feel honestly and truly that I am on the path and I am meant to be on. I think that working with the Odyssey would not only strengthen my writing and editing skills, but it would be a fun thing to do, and it would help prepare me for what lies ahead in my future. I am so passionate about my field and I can't see myself doing anything else. I read the articles written by girls that work for the Odyssey that pop up on my Facebook newsfeed almost every day and think "wow, these writers are incredible. This website is incredible, and I want to be a part of that team." The best part about reading the articles is remembering that the writers are people just like me, and I hope that I can join the team and contribute to inspiring college students, just as I have been inspired.
