Things I Wish I Had Done In High school

I honestly wish I had done more during my time in high school and really taken advantage of things at my disposal.

I love college. I love my school, I love the friends I'm making, I love being able to get cookout whenever I please. But I can't help but miss high school and having FOMO watching my old high school friends on snapchat at pep rallies and football games. I honestly wish I had done more during my time in high school and really taken advantage of things at my disposal. These are some of the main things I wish I had done during my time in high school.

Support your fine arts programs

I was in the band, choir, and a little bit of theater. We worked hard all year for concerts and competitions and it really made everyone fell special when there were people who came and supported us (besides our parents). So go to the band competition and go to the choir concert. Go see the play and musical. So much work goes into these things, and they're often underfunded by the school. I promise you will be appreciated.

Go to sporting events

I only went to the football games because I had to for band. I never went to a basketball game or a soccer game and I wish I had. Just like band or choir, the sports teams also practice and work hard. It never makes people feel bad when you support them! So get some friends, get some concession stand food, and support your high school teams!

Spend time with your friendsĀ

I love all my friends from high school more than I can put into words, and I wish I'd spend even more time with them. Soon everyone will be at different colleges and in different parts of the world which makes seeing each other and talking to each other way more difficult than before. So walk with them to class, get breakfast before school, study with them, just be there and do life with them.

Do well in school

Go to school, take notes, pay attention and learn to study. These things are 10 times harder in college and I wish I'd actually learned how to do them sooner. Try and do these things now, I promise your college self will thank you.

Don't take anything for granted.

Believe it or not, you will miss home. You will miss your parents, and your siblings, and your dogs. You'll miss those teachers that actually knew who you were and cared about you. You'll miss how cheap the cafeteria food was (however crappy it might be). You'll miss everything about your hometown, even if you hated it. Tell people when you appreciate them and don't take them for granted.

College is a lot of fun, but so is high school. College will get here soon enough, enjoy where you are now.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
