Whether you will admit it or not, we are not very fond of waiting, at all. We fuss when we go through a drive through, and they ask us to pull up, meaning we have to wait longer. We get mad when we are in the grocery store and they only have two of the 30 registers open, because, well, that just makes us all mad. We run our mouth about the professor who takes forever to grade assignments, because we think that if we did it in 24 hours, you should have it graded in that time. Yes, this is true, no one likes to wait, but what are you willing to wait for?
Willing to wait. You must be thinking, who in their right mind is voluntarily willing to wait on anything? Well, the answer is you, but only on the things that are not important.
Let me start making sense for you, you will still wait when that fast food employee asks you to pull up. You will wait in the grocery store when they only have two registers open. You will even wait on that professor to give you back your paper, two weeks later, and never say anything to him. That is because you want your food, you need your groceries, and you are anticipating that grade.
But, why will you not wait on the right guy/girl? Why will you not wait to sexually give yourself to the right one, instead of the one you met on the Internet that is in town for the weekend? Why not wait on God to open up the door, instead of busting one down? Will you not wait to His will to unfold in your life, instead of trying to write your own?
I am not ashamed to admit that I will wait. I will wait on the right guy to walk into my life, or if he is already here, to make himself known. I will wait until my wedding night, you know, just to make sure he still likes me. It might be hard, but I will wait in the hallway, in the dark place, waiting on God to show me where He wants me to go. And the hardest of all, I will wait on His will to unfold in my life, BECAUSE I know that He knows the desires of my heart, and He is my God who goes before me and knows exactly what I need, when I need it and how I need it.
You see we all have heard all these inspirational quotes and people talk about how the best things in life are worth waiting for. The problem is that we have heard it so much that we don’t even believe it anymore.
But it is time that we do! God has a plan and a purpose for each of us. No matter who you are, He has a plan for you. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “'For I know the plans I have for you,' says the Lord. “'They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.'” If we can only wait, wait on Him, everything will work out. He is the author of our lives. He has the right guy/girl for you, He knows where your life is going. He already has it all figured out. Put your faith in Him, and wait on Him.
