When you move out of your parents’ house and into the real world, chances are that you’re going to find yourself living with other people. Whether it’s one of your friends or someone you’ve never met before, you’ll probably find yourself getting to know your first ever roommates. This new chapter in your life is one that will probably define the rest of your story, and there are going to be moments that will be more memorable than most. Some of these moments will be deep and emotional, and others will be downright hilarious.

1. 2 a.m. conversations about anything and everything

Sometimes we all just need a good talk with someone we love. For some reason, the really deep talks happen in the middle of the night, and your roommate is often subject to listen to you ramble for an hour straight. They still listen, and we love them for it.

2. Kitchen mishaps

From exploding wine bottles, to burning the popcorn; you've been through it all in the kitchen. Either way, sometimes it feels like your kitchen is about to be featured on Kitchen Nightmares.

3. Roasting each other.

It's all in good fun, but as you get to know each other more; it feels like everyone is suddenly a comedian. The jokes get more real, but so do the friendships.

4. Delirious stress-fueled conversations

The number of times I've asked my roommates, "Do you think Bigfoot has a family?" is sad, but they constantly put up with me. These conversations are often some of the funniest you'll have.

5. Late night fast food runs

Who doesn't enjoy a late night Steak n' Shake run? Sometimes you just need a midnight milkshake with the people you live with.

6. Bringing each other comfort food

Whenever someone is down, the immediate response seems to be cookie dough. Your roommates will care enough about you to bring you your favorite food when you especially need it.

7. Ridiculous dancing/singing together

All shame is thrown out the window, and sometimes you're just going to have to whip in front of your roommates.

8. Sharing one another’s music tastes

I've discovered so many artists from my roommates that it feels like I've discovered a whole new world.

9. Being affectionately mean to each other.

The term, "Bitch" has become a term of endearment, and now you're struggling to watch your mouth in front of their family. Other times, you just laugh at each other's expense.

10. Telling crazy childhood stories

When your room with new people, you get to experience your childhood all over again as you open yourself up to your roommates. It will get to the point that they'll feel like they were actually there.

11. Finding your second family

Above all, your roommates will become a part of your family. You'll laugh, eat, hurt, grow, and live together for however many years. The people you now call your roommates will soon enough turn into a family that will always hold a special place in your heart.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
