Every step strained my burning, aching muscles. I gasped for breath and lunged forward. I could feel myself breathing harder and harder with each and every step. Sweat dripped into my eyes, stinging them with salt. I felt no pain; actually, I couldn't feel anything. I could hear voices, but I couldn't articulate a response. I ignored the pull of gravity and lunged onto my toes. I ignored my fellow teammates and opponents as I passed them coming across the finish line. The only thing I could think is how great I felt after completing the race. For most people running is a nightmare, for me it is bliss. I have gone to many races, run in the heat, snow and rain and even joined activities through the MapMyRun App. This year I have joined the You vs. The Year challenge through Under Armor and committed myself to running 1000km by December 31, 2016. Running for me is not only a lifestyle but a place of contentment.
Here are 5 Reasons Why Everyone should try running at least once:
1. You can do it anywhere
Running is very inexpensive (when you aren’t running in races every week). All you need to do it is a pair of sneakers and you're off. You can do it anywhere, during any season at any time of the day. On vacation? Check. In the snow, rain and heat? Check. Check. Check. In the gym? Not required, go outside and check out the great outdoors.
2. You will go new places and meet new people

3. Me time
Running can be a group activity, but many people choose to do it alone. It allows me to block out my problems from the day and just focus on completing my run. An hour of running leads to an hour less of stress during the day.
4. A Healthier Life Style
Running several times a week can help lower your blood pressure and cholesterol naturally. It can also help you feel more energized throughout the day, studies suggest that it is even more effective then taking a quick nap. This also leads to you sleeping better at night.
5. Endorphins
Every heard of a runner’s high? Running produces an increase in the amount of endorphins. These interact with the receptors in your brain which produces a positive feeling. Leaving you with a "runners high".
