If you are a college student, you have probably seen Love Your Melon products picking up speed on your campus and on social media. You may know exactly what it stands for or you may have no clue, but either way you should consider starting a Love Your Melon Crew on your campus or joining your college's active crew this semester.

Love Your Melon is NOT just another apparel brand. When I first saw the ads about a year ago, I thought the same thing, but then I did my research. Love Your Melon donates HALF of net proceeds equally to Cure Search and The Pinky Swear Foundation. That's not 10%, not 25%, but FIFTY PERCENT. In case you don't know, Cure Search is a non-profit organization that funds and supports targeted and innovative children's cancer research, and The Pinky Swear Foundation eases the financial and emotional impact experienced by families with a child with cancer. That means that with every purchase you are donating money directly to families of children with cancer and research facilities to help end it. That $30 baseball cap just got a whole lot easier to purchase, didn't it?

The impact of Love Your Melon does not end there. All 800 of our college crews work actively to visit children with cancer and brighten their spirits. We do this with household visits, superhero adventures, and hospital visits. There is nothing better than walking into a hospital room on the pediatric floor and seeing a child cry of happiness because their favorite superhero is standing in front of them. When they ask if they can go home with you, your heart melts. When they want to take a picture with you, you put on the biggest smile and let their mother take 600. And when you give them their own Love Your Melon beanie, you can't do anything but feel pride. This is all a part of the normal life of a Love Your Melon ambassador, and there is nothing I would ever take back about the experience.

There are so many people in the world, yes I mean world, that support the Love Your Melon mission, so you will always have someone to talk to about your time with LYM. No matter how busy you will be with your course load this fall, seriously consider creating your own crew. You will find time to create lasting memories with children who may not have very many left, and you will touch the hearts of parents everywhere because for one day they don't have to worry about their child, that's our job.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
