As sorority recruitment season begins, it is extremely important to be yourself in every round you go through. Even though it may seem corny now, these women in your sorority could possible be the women in your wedding standing beside you on your important day. So if you act like yourself and find people just like you, you can find your place.
Believe me, coming out in the open and discussing your values can definitely seem hard at times, especially when you come directly from high school. In High School, it can seem like the only way you can be considered "cool" is if you do what everyone else does. Once you get to college, the entire ballgame is different. There are people just like you, with the same morals and values as you do. You don't have to love to party, but you can if you enjoy doing so. You don't have to love to study, but you can if you enjoy to. There are endless opportunities to make friendships, and by being honest about your morals up front, you are allowing more people to open up to you.
If you act like anyone else, besides yourself, you are not allowing yourself to have a surrounding support system for you. Going through recruitment can show you some of your future best friends. You just have to be yourself in order to find them. The entire atmosphere of a sorority is so welcoming and supportive. There is no judgement based on house selection or anything along those lines. It is so extremely satisfying to find people who are genuinely happy for you. i think this is because everyone is searching for their forever friends, just like you. As long as you keep an open mind and constantly support one another, you can find people that love your chapter just as much as you do.
Once recruitment week is over, I'm sure most of the girls going through it will be so relieved. I know I am. The late nights and early mornings sure catch up with you. But in my experience, I have met so many people through the process of finding my chapter and i know they will be my friends for a very long time.
There is nothing more rewarding than overcoming your battles and being able to discuss your triumphs with people who genuinely care about you. Don't be afraid to go outside of your comfort zone and find relatable subjects to discuss. The more you talk to your new potential sister, the more opportunities you have to connect. The chapters you are going into are looking for people like them who care about the things that they do. Just because you do not get into a certain house, that doesn't mean that they hate you. It means that they know that you will be happier at another house. By being yourself you can make yourself happy and make your choice of houses even easier.
