Why We Need To Accept Change

Change is inevitable. All throughout our lives we are bound to change. If we didn't where would that leave us?

Why We Need To Accept Change

If you opened this thinking this was some sort of politically aimed article, let me stop you now. This has no hidden meaning or hidden agenda. This is simply a statement on why we have to get used to the concept of change. It's happening and it's about time we not only get used to it but that we start accepting it for what it is at face value.

When things are good and great we wish we could freeze time. We desire more than anything to pause in that moment. It is so great and almost perfect that we don't want to miss out on it. We don't welcome change. We push it out and try to ignore the whole idea it. We don't have the mindset that there could quite possibly be something better around the corner.

Change doesn't always directly correlate with negativity or destruction. Change just means that things will be different, they will not stay the same. We HAVE to change. Without change we wouldn't be anywhere near where we are as a nation. I have no intention of being redundant or cliche but we wouldn't have cellphones, computers, TV's, cars, A/C, etc. Most importantly the opportunities that we have would be completely out of the question. If you brought up a college education people would laugh in your face. My job as a writer wouldn't be nearly as incredible. I would only be able to reach who I knew in my direct circle of people and that would only be if they could read. I don't mean to flashback that far but I want you to grasp the idea that the world is changing and we need to change with it. I also want you to have faith in the fact that change is good.

There is certainly a part of you that is already prepared for these ideas. When things go wrong, go awry or aren't what you expect you want them to be different. You want and sometimes even beg for change. This right here is your hope. Part of you is already ready change. For most of us it is just a matter of switching and some slight convincing of our brain to feel the same way when things are good. Good things have full capability of changing into bigger and better things.

In short, it is essential in this time and age to be open to change. Being shut off from this concept can so greatly hinder us. As I stated before there are so many incredible opportunities and chances to grow if we accept change. All I'm saying is it wouldn't hurt is to step out of our comfort zone every once in a while. If we open up our eyes just a tad more the world might show us somethings we never thought possible and who wouldn't want that?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
