I have been atheist and agnostic each at one point in my life, but I ultimately chose God.
Why?
How can someone go from believing in God, being unsure there is one at all, to completely denying His existence, and then praising Him; all in an eighteen year time span? More than once. Well, I used to let my life's status control my faith. If life was going well, I believed. If it was not, whatever I had faith in was just a figment of my imagination. Or vise versa.
But why did I CHOOSE Him from now on? Why do WE choose Him?
Quite frankly, life is better with Him in it. When you are feeling down and alone, God is someone you can confide in. He always listens, He always knows what is best. When society is filling your mind with lies you can look to His word for truth. He is the comfort you need in the midst of destruction. He. Is. There. Twenty four seven, any time you need, He is there. You could commit a million wrongs and He will still see the right you have done and love you wholeheartedly for all that you are and all of the baggage that you come with. Where people fail, God prevails. Speaking of which,
Look at this world. The sleazy politicians, heated debates, pointed fingers, unfriendly disagreements, deadly shootings, and the lack of humanity. Look at all of the drug deals, teens having sex, youth using profanity; the devil has run rampant in His nations and we need Him desperately. He is the light in all of this darkness that wreaks havoc on the Lord's plans. No person can truly not need someone like our God to save them from all of this heartache and all of these awful things -- despite what they might tell you. So many people do not know He is out there, or they do not want to take advantage of His offer . . . They may not believe. Let me tell those out there feeling this way, we choose God because
We can feel His authenticity and it causes our faith to grow. God graciously gave you the choice to let Him in, to choose Him. Until you do that you will never know or experience how amazing He and the things He can do are. When you truly let Him in, it is obvious that He is real. You will no longer need to see to believe. He makes Himself apparent and of course we have more faith because of these experiences.
Atheists -- I can feel your eyes rolling at me throughout this entire article (if you read far enough). You have faith that there is no God. You believe you have evidence due to science. We have faith and evidence that He does exist due to the work He has done IN us. You have to feel it for yourself. We have, that is why we choose God.
