Forever Young? Count Me Out, I Want To Grow Up

Growing up is scary and confusing and stressful. You have to worry about bills, your job, and buying everything on your own. As much as I love being a kid and not worrying about the future, I know that eventually we all have to grow up and become big kids. Getting older is frightening, but there are a lot of things I look forward to as a grown adult.

Finding the love of my life.

Is that cliché? Yes, but it’s true. Ever since I was a little girl dancing around in my princess dress, I have dreamed of my Prince Charming. I can’t wait for the day when I find that one person that completes me, that loves me unconditionally and that will be by my side through thick and thin. Finding that person is something I have dreamed about and in order to discover “the one,” I know you have to grow up.

Helping people through my career.

Whether I decide to pursue a career in teaching or in occupational therapy, I know I will help people when I’m older. I want to inspire people and be a guiding force for those who need it. I can’t wait for the day that I will be able to assist people and make their life a little brighter and easier through my profession.

To be able to travel wherever and explore.

Although I have been fortunate to travel to many states and historical sites with my family, when I get older, I would love to travel the country and see what else America has to offer. I want to see the Grand Canyon, visit North Carolina, and go to Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Being able to see the great USA and explore the different cultures would be an amazing experience. I cannot wait to be able to do that as an adult.

To have a family.

Ever since I could talk I have wanted a family. I want to be a mom and do mom things. I want to own a mini van and drive around my children and their friends to practice. I want to go on family trips to Disney World or just go camping in the backyard and enjoy each other’s company. Being a mom is my dream job. Having a husband and children is really what I look forward to in my life.

To give back to my parents who have done so much for me.

I’m not just talking about those student loans that they helped with or the occasional money they send for holidays or just because. I’m talking about the years and years of support and the time they have given up for me to be at my many school activities and all of my athletic events. I want to be able to give them something to repay them. Even though nothing can compare to the time and effort they have given me, I hope to give them something to show how appreciative and grateful I am to have them in my life.

To buy a house and make it a home.

Buying a house is stressful and confusing and most think it’s a hassle, but I would have to disagree. I cannot wait to purchase a house and decorate it to make it look warm and cozy. I love going through home stores and seeing the new and trendy looking furniture as well as the home improvement tools. I can’t wait to do DIY projects with my husband and create our dream home. I want to make a house a place my family can call home.

Being a little kid is fun and all, but I really can’t wait until I am a grown married woman, successful in my career, and with a family of my own.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
