Twenty One Pilots is a band consisting of just two young men who know all to well how their fans are feeling and the best way to reach out to them. Maybe you are already a die-hard fan of theirs or maybe you have never even listened to them, but after reading this list of just a few of their highly important lyrics, you will soon understand that Twenty One Pilots does not just jumble words together with background sound to make music. They are using their talent to better the world and to make a difference in so many people’s lives.

Fake You Out:

“Cause I am quiet now And silence gives you space”

Sometimes we all just need to take a step back from all the noise in our life to see what’s truly important.

Fake You Out:

“What kids are doing are killing themselves, They feel they have no control of their prisoner's cell”

If this lyric makes you worried, then it’s doing its job. Twenty One Pilots has a common theme in quite a few of their songs; they see how many young people and teenagers are struggling in today’s society, and they want to make a difference.

Holding On To You:

“Fight it,
Take the pain, ignite it,
Tie a noose around your mind
Loose enough to breathe fine and tie it
To a tree. Tell it, "You belong to me.
This ain't a noose, this is a leash.
And I have news for you: you must obey me."

Yet another song was written to key into the terrible harness many people have around their minds that are extremely hard to let go. Take a listen to the song and you can feel the power behind these lyrics and how strongly the singer feels about helping someone that can’t release the tension in their life.

Lane Boy:
"But I know a thing or two about pain and darkness
If it wasn't for this music, I don't know how I would've fought this"

A reminder to us that music really is the best escape.

Car Radio:

“Faith is to be awake
And to be awake is for us to think
And for us to think is to be alive
And I will try with every rhyme
To come across like I am dying
To let you know you need to try to think”

This song has so many intricate lyrics in itself that the list can go on and on. This set of lyrics really demonstrates how important it is for us to try our best not to mask the feelings and thoughts we are having. For many, when distressed, it seems simpler to block out the events in our mind that bother us, but in the long run, it is better to sit down and think it through.

Guns For Hands:

“That you all have guns,
And you never put the safety on,
And you all have plans,
To take it, to take it,
Don't take it, take it, take it.”

Guns For Hands is a song that is literally explaining the singer’s fear of people taking the wrong route to solve their problems. In the song, the singer is screaming at the listener, “don’t do what I think you are going to do.”

Goner:

“I'm a goner, somebody catches my breath,
I'm a goner, somebody catch my breath,
I want to be known by you,
I want to be known by you.”

A desire that so many people have, to be wanted by someone and to be known by the world around us.

Goner:

“I've got two faces, blurry's the one I'm not,
I need your help to take him out.”

“Don't let me be gone.”

Gone is probably one of the most powerful, heavy and meaningful songs written by Twenty One Pilots, yet it has the least amount of lyrics. The singer is pleading for someone to help them get rid of the “other face;” the nasty person inside them that they don’t want to live with anymore.

Blurry face:

“My name's 'Blurry face' and I care what you think.”

Such a simple lyric but many would not think to use. A usual saying one would hear is “I don’t care what you think,” but here the singer is being totally honest in his insecurities and showing he cares what others think and maybe being vulnerable isn’t the worst quality to have.

Blurryface:

“We would build a rocket ship and then we'd fly it far away,
Used to dream of outer space but now they're laughing at our face,
Saying, "Wake up, you need to make money."

This lyric might be more likely to capture a young adult, someone who is going through the obstacles of figuring out what they want to do in the future. And in a sense, adults all around us are yelling, “wake up you need to make money.” It can’t get more literal than that.

“House Of Gold:

“And since we know that dreams are dead,
And life turns plans up on their head,
I will plan to be a bum,
So I just might become someone.”

As brutal as these lyrics might be, it kind of is a wake up call to young adults today trying so hard to find a job that makes them the most money possible. Maybe, we all just need to find what makes us truly us and then we’ll “become someone.”

Migraine:

“And I know that I can fight or I can let the lion win,
I begin to assemble what weapons I can find,
'Cause sometimes to stay alive you gotta kill your mind.”

A migraine is a song that uses the literal meaning of what a migraine is to many people and switches it to also explain the restricted thoughts one has that holds them back from day-to-day life. And sometimes you just have to let the thoughts play out to have some relief.

Migraine:

“And I will say that we should take a moment and hold it,
And keep it frozen and know that,
Life has a hopeful undertone.”

No matter what anyone is going through, it is important to keep even just an ounce of positivity and hopefulness to get through each day.

Truce:

“The sun will rise, and we will try again”

Although Truce is a not the most uplifting song, this one lyric can mean a lot. It is a reminder to us that even if today isn’t the best day we must always keep trying.

As it stands, the most honest component of Twenty One Pilots lies in singer and writer, Tyler Joseph's willingness to admit things can sometimes be confounding to the listener, but I think that's what makes them the best. If it isn't clear yet that you desperately need to give Twenty One Pilots a listen then I'm not quite sure what else to do to convince you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
