Why The 1975 Isn't Your Average Band

With the release of their new album, "I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it" I thought it was appropriate to introduce my favorite band to anyone who may be unfamiliar with their music.

In 2013, The 1975 released their first self-titled debut album, getting everyone's attention with their hit single, "Chocolate". Since then, they have traveled the U.S. and Europe playing thousands of shows and festivals, gaining a tremendous amount of support from their fans.

So what makes The 1975 different from your average indie or alternative band?

1. Their unique sound

Unlike most pop or alternative bands, The 1975's music is simply indescribable. They have an original, eclectic, and soothing dynamic that can make anyone fall in love.

2. Their message

The 1975 are constantly being criticized for their "unconvincing emo lyrics" but they never seem to let it bother them. They continue to remain unaffected by the media, and continue making music for the people who really matter...the fans!

3. Their style

From all black everything to pretty in pink, this band never fails to make sure their style is on fleek - fashion and music-wise.

4. Their performance

After seeing them live about six times, I think it's safe to say that camping out two days prior to the concert, just to be front row, is definitely worth it. The visuals and music is absolutely breathtaking, and I didn't think a band could be so much better live.

If you haven't been to one of their shows, or listened to them before, you're definitely doing something wrong. The 1975 is one of the best, most unique bands of our generation, and I see big things happening for them in the future!
