Why Ted From "How I Met Your Mother" Is the Real MVP

Sure, he comes off as kind of weak and unmanly throughout the series, but so what?

I am one of those people who gets strangely attached to the characters in a TV show that has nothing to do with my life whatsoever. I become invested in their lives and think that they are essentially real people. So for me, Ted Mosby is one of the most relatable characters I have ever seen, and I feel that everyone can learn a lot from him. Ted is one of those people that you just love to root for, and continuously watch fail in lots of aspects of life, and this is exactly what makes him so relatable.

There are five main characters in "How I Met Your Mother." Marshall and Lily, the most perfect couple there ever was, Robin, the feisty career focused woman, Barney, the ladies’ man, and lastly Ted, the hopeless romantic on the hunt for his perfect woman. All of the characters seem to be extremes, except for Ted.

Ted has never had it easy when it comes to relationships. He continues to meet and fall for many women throughout the series. I will not spoil the show for anyone who has yet to watch it, but let’s just say that basically everything that could go wrong in a relationship has probably happened to Ted at some point in his life.

He does not give up though, and he is definitely not afraid to say how he feels, and this is a very admirable quality, it my opinion, because I often have problems articulating how I feel. He never fails to say what he really thinks, even if it happens to scare away women sometimes, at least he isn’t wasting his time by trying to avoid his feelings.

Another hugely relatable quality Ted has is that he has to experience so much heartbreak on his way to getting what he is looking for. Sure, Lily and Marshall have the most desired relationship ever, they did not have to go through the kind of pain that Ted had to. (SPOILER ALERT) Ted had to watch the woman he loved go from relationship to relationship, and even end up with his best friend, without being able to do anything about it. He went through dry spells, work hardships and lots of rejection on his way to finding love, but he never got too discouraged, because he knew it was out there somewhere.

Lastly, Ted always knew what he wanted and what was best for him in the end. He continued to search for it until he found it, because why settle for anything less than what you deserve? Sure, his expectations were kind of high, and some may say unattainable, but he knew that there was someone out there that could fulfill all of his expectations, and that is why he is not only relatable, but so admirable. Everyone should hold out for that person that will make him/her happier than he/she could have ever imagined, and everyone deserves to find that person.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
