The Outsider: Why Technology Drifts Me Further Away

I’m sick of technology distracting people.

With all the hate going on in this world, I am honestly not surprised situations continue to get worse. I don’t swear much; but I’m a truthful person. I’ll say it like it is: ISIS freakin’ sucks. To me, they are nothing more than immature, snobbish babies who think they can take over this planet.

Well, ya know something, ISIS? Look inside, you are part of Earth, too! We all are. We are made of stardust and will all go out like a light-- just like the sun one day.

So don’t waste your time killing people. Everything in this universe serves a purpose. There is a chain reaction to sustain and benefit something else for a greater need. The more benefits you waste, the more you will deplete.

And what are you really accomplishing? You don’t scare me. You never will. I’m seeing so many terrorist attacks on TV these days. It has grown to the point where I’m used to it. I’m used to seeing a group of people getting shot, attacked, or murdered somewhere on the Earth. It’s sad that the world is coming to pure evil.

Yeah.. Just another shooting in Europe. It sucks to know this is what the future will look like. I’m tired of seeing this sickness spread. It needs to end. Dumb people: shooters, attackers, evil people, you name it. It’s stupid.

All we are doing is ruining the Earth and ourselves. It’s sad how so many people are used to it, even myself. We see it on TV and yet, most of us look outside and think everything is fine. In reality, the more it happens, the more it will spread. In the future, it may be outside your window. However, I believe everything happens for a reason, so who knows.

I’m sick of hearing about shootings. I’m sick of technology distracting people. Maybe technology growth has been a part of ISIS’s plan all along-- for Google Maps to use a person’s location to bring people together and cause more terror.

Other than ISIS, technology has gotten to the point where people pay more attention to their stupid plastic cell phones rather than the person who is sitting right in front of you. Sometimes, a text message or a phone call interrupts a good conversation.

What have we come to as humans? What happened to common sense and conversation? Every night, I think of how bad society is getting. It’s not that all of society is bad. To me, it feels like we’re losing that deep connection that humans need-- the part that is genetically encrypted within us and makes us who we are.

And deep down, it hurts. I sometimes cry. It hurts to know that intellect, reasoning and good conversations continue to die-out by the minute. To me, there is no one really left who I can relate with-- even older people are getting into technology and are drifting away from a face-to-face conversation.

But one day, this will all come to an end. It has to. Want to know why? Because in order to get to heaven, one must go through hell. We will get there one way or another.

But until then, I just hope that one day, we can say “hi” again; talk again; laugh again without “lol”; converse again; can I get an “Amen?” For if we don’t, more matters will continue to get worse until the end.

But with every end is a new beginning-- a very new inning for a winning.

And I’m in it for the end.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
