Life is full of inevitable change. Any transformation is difficult to cope with because humans generally reject what they don't understand. Nevertheless, our world has rapidly evolved throughout the decades. The way humans communicate advanced intensely. Traditionally, letters were chiefly written with a feathered quill and bottle of black ink. Knowledge was obtained through extensive research from scholarly books located in the local library. Personal dialogue was anticipated and highly appreciated in the community. Conversations lasted hours as individuals contently debated about endless topics. Technology was an unknown subject of discussion because personal relationships were more meaningful. In today's society, humans are trapped in their phones, computers, and other forms of consuming technology.

I am jealous of the days when conversations were the source of contagious laughter and unfailing inspiration. When individuals yearned for just one more hour to converse with their true friends. When society judged your personal character and not the number of likes or followers you obtained. The world is rapidly changing and I'm afraid technology is leading society in the wrong direction.

Technology, especially phones, are slowly becoming a dangerous drug for humans at large. We walk down the street with our heads down paying no attention to any surroundings. Life goes on but almost no one notices. Few people hear the rustling of leaves on a nearby tree or the constant motion of automobiles driving on the road. Hardly anyone notices the precious sight of a mother pushing her child in a stroller or the footsteps of an approaching runner sprinting by.

Decorative buildings and aesthetic landmarks seem to vanish in the shadows of careless bystanders. Albert Einstein, renowned German-born physicist, declared, "I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots." Humans concentrate more useless energy and personal time toward texting and watching screens than enjoying the surrounding natural beauty. Phones are placing an unavoidable snare around the truly important aspects of life.

Countless people fail to even remain control of themselves without a phone or piece of technology in their hands. They need to tangibly feel the device in order to experience any sense of security or reassurance. Several minutes without a phone could spark unwavering panic and anxiety. Unfortunately, society teaches people to crave technology in many harmful ways. Endless advertisements promote the truly incredible capability of these advanced devices despite the unhealthy dependency in which they encompass. Technology seduces the mind to partake in hours of wasteful internet browsing instead of focusing on establishing genuine relationships with actual people standing feet nearby.

Many times I wonder how society evolved into such a technological nightmare. We started as a community immersed in educated dialogue and exciting relationships but currently settle for a screen in our hand. Life goes on but barely anyone notices. Technology overpowers the beauty in our everyday lives and replaces it with social media and other forms of profound technological noise. We are distracted from the objects and individuals standing directly in front of us as we fail to even glance up from what's trending on social media. Hours of text messaging and Netflix pass by as well as triple-checking a post you already viewed several minutes ago.

Society is substituting our dreams and ambitions for another year of Facebook posts and Twitter feeds. These days the only topic of discussion seems to be sex, money, and politics. Our imaginations wither under the intense pressure of technology as a whole. Conversations last shorter while relationships become fewer. Humans are trapped in their phones and find it hard to resist such a powerful temptation. Although many individuals try avoiding the negative consequences witnessed from the allure of technology, the majority of these hopeful attempts prove difficult.

Although technology is taking our society into a dangerous direction, there is still hope for overcoming this technological headache. We must choose to experience life in the present and avoid resorting to technology for personal happiness and security. Entrust your feelings and ideas to friends and family who are eagerly waiting for you to pick up head and simply talk. it's time to understand and utilize the remarkable potential of technology while remaining true in character. Instead of picking up your phone and wasting the next few hours, seek out a friend or significant other and appreciate the time you have with them. Listen to the sounds of nature and the pleasure generated from people watching. Life is full of adventure and excitement that can only be experienced with your head held high and a positive attitude.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
