Too many amazing destinations to travel during breaks exist on Earth: we got the Bahamas, Aruba, and Jamaica. Okay, so pretty much anywhere in the Caribbean is fair game. Visiting other countries and cultures is also extremely popular. For example, taking a safari ride through Africa or checking out Big Ben in London. Well, what if I told you there was an amazing place right here in the United States that is the prime travel destination any time of the year? That’s right. New York City is the ultimate place for all your travel needs. Don’t believe me? Here’s why:

1. The People

Come on, guys. You want to meet a ton of people from all different backgrounds and ethnicities? New York City is the place for that. People from all over the world congregate in NYC and make it their own. You can find every culture, every religion, and every walk of life on the streets of the Big Apple. There’s Chinatown, Little Italy, and even a Little Germany in the five boroughs. Also, people are just different in New York City. You'll meet some strange street performers along the streets or in the subway. Whatever you thought you'd never see in person, trust me, you'll see it in New York City. Go explore and see what kinds of people and cultures you can come across by just crossing the street.

2. The Food

Because of the influx of varying cultures in New York City, there is a smorgasbord of all different types of cuisine. Check out Queen of Sheba in Hell’s Kitchen for some traditional Ethiopian food. Go to The Grafton in the East Village if you’re in the mood for an Irish Pub. Venture down to Times Square and eat at Carmine’s if you’re interested in huge portions of amazing Italian dishes. Not feeling like sitting down and having a meal? Go to any of the New York food trucks. Disregard all misconceptions; New York food trucks offer great food of all cultures on the go. You can truly find anything to eat here.

3. The Shops

Many people love spending their money at outlets or shopping centers while on vacation. Some love buying souvenirs for friends back home. If this is you, come to NYC. This city is the Mecca of all shopping centers. You have Times Square lined with American Eagle Outfitters, Polo Ralph Lauren, and Forever 21. Walk on down to 5th avenue where you can touch $2000 sunglasses at Saks 5th Avenue. You can also find stores like Anthropologie and Free People here. Looking for more local shops? Go to Greenwich Village. The Village is full of little shops that sell tons of different types of items. One of the coolest stores is Bleecker Street Records located right up the street from Washington Square Park. NYC is truly the place to shop until you drop.

4. The Attractions

You ever get to the fourth or fifth day of vacation and search for something to do? You’ve been to the beach, walked the boardwalk, and have eaten at all the restaurants your mom’s friend recommended. What now? I promise you’ll never have that problem here. From major concerts and sporting events hosted in Madison Square Garden to Broadway shows that’ll capture you, NYC has it all. Go see one of the many famous museums. Get free tickets to popular late night TV shows like The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon or even Saturday Night Live. No matter what day or time it is, there will always a performance to see or a place to visit.

But hey, what do I know, right? Go check out the city that doesn’t sleep for yourself and see just how much it has to offer.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
