There is one person that I have known all my life that I feel like I could tell anything to and that’s my sister Alex. I have always had a great relationship with my sister and she has always been there for me from breakups to helping bully’s get off my back. There were some times in which she was the typical sister in which we get into fights or something and it happens. No sibling relationship is perfect and we all know that.

Alex is one of those people that if she sees you are down, she will try her best to put a smile on your face. That’s the kind of person she is. She has been one of my role models for the longest time and I have always looked up to her. When I was 2, my sister dressed me up as a princess and this didn’t happen just once. I followed her around everywhere because she was “The Boss” and she dressed me up until I was 4. I was her follower and wherever she went, I went. We were inseparable until she first started school and that was when I found out that my Mom was the actual “Boss.”

There are many words that can describe Alex such as intelligent, funny, weird, a nerd, etc. She has so many different sides that you can’t keep up. Being from a sports-oriented family, my sister did not play sports growing up. She tried, but she was always the one that would need to sit out due to the heat or she was just benched from the beginning. Sports were my thing and not hers. Where she excelled was the classroom, and she did really well with that by graduating from MSU last winter with a 3.85 GPA. She may have been blessed with my dad’s smarts, but I have my mom’s street smarts so at least I have that going for me.

We have always had a good relationship over the years, but have grown closer since graduating high school. We didn’t see each other very often when she left for State and it was a big thing for my family because she was the first one to head off to college. My mom, dad, and I used to still set the table for her just in case she would drop in and surprise us. It was a very surreal moment when she left because “The Boss” wasn’t around to boss me around anymore and it really hit me more than anyone.

Currently, we talk a lot and keep up with what each other is doing. We do our best to call each other and have the occasional FaceTime session just to have a quick check-in with “The Boss” just to make sure that we are doing alright. She has always had my back when it comes to anything and I know that noo matter what happens, she will always be my best friend. And I want to thank her for everything she have done for me. She truly is one of the biggest influences on my life.

I love you, Boss.

Also Happy Birthday :)

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
