Why Modern Relationships Fall Apart

Have we forgotten how to love?

Why Modern Relationships Fall Apart

Every day countless couples break things off for vague reasons they don't care to explain. Why is this happening? Why do we try so hard to love only to fail?

We're not prepared for the fluctuating emotions, the endless compromises, and the idea of unconditional love. We go into relationships thinking things will be easy because that's what we want. We want easy, and when things aren't easy, we quit. We reach one fight, one obstacle, one problem and just let everything go. We don't give the love time to grow. We don't put up the fight that love is worth.

We want excitement, which is entirely understandable. What we don't realize is that love can't always be exciting. There will be deep silences and serious talks, but we aren't prepared for those. All we want is the excitement and when that fades, we give up.

We are busy people who don't take enough time out of our crazy lives to love. We chase our materialistic dreams without first realizing that we are going to need someone by our side when we don't succeed.

We don't have patience. We want instant gratification. True love and a mature relationship take time. We don't want to give our time to develop a true emotional connection, to truly get to know someone.

Technology is a great thing, but it has started to bring us too close. We have replaced physically being with someone with texts, snapchats, and video calls. There is no need to spend time with people anymore. Social media and cellphones have left us with nothing to talk about.

Many of us are commitment phobic. We afraid to settle down, afraid we are going to miss out on something bigger or better. We hate the idea of permanence. We don't want to conform to what is "normal". We like to believe that we are different than everyone else.

We've become too sensible for our own good. We are a generation who runs on logic. We don't know how to be madly in love, to drop everything to see someone. Long distance scares us.

We don't value relationships anymore. We don't consider the relationships or even the people to be sacred anymore.

We can conquer anything in this world- except for love apparently.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
